Vice President Runan listened to the sounds of machines in rhythm pumping up, the deep heat of the smelter creating its own hell of oppressive heat to break down iron ingots brought in from Roskanan Arema.
But the Vice President knew the steel industry, one of the largest in the Greater Republic, was still underwhelming to the needs of Roskana. He jotted down his observations from the steel mill as workers below him ignored the individual as they focused on the hot work of processing steel.
Overall Roskana needed more smithies, lots of them, he would put forth his proposal to the higher ups but not before doing his own practice of the Rosark political scene. 'If you want something to happen, move the other hand before telling the one you intend to motion into action' those words struck Runan hard from his time in the revolution, his commanding officer a Festrian who died years later in the Grinvel border war was what drove Runan into Republican politics with one goal, make Roskana strong. He put on his fedora and waved over his staff, many of them young humans and Festrians, "Go send these envoys out, I want invoices on my desk no less than a week. We have those outstanding purchases the Diamid has to accept my uh...request." His young and eager staff members left the hot mill with the VP slowly behind them jotting down another number.
"250 smithies and 200 foundries is a start, going to need all the pig iron I can get."
Next to his note, Kumosenkan, Valdera, Frannerre, Ashinara, UKUG, Koi, Seleucidinia. Massive purchases of Pig iron ore would be needed to feed the large build up steel production. Heavy, light and medium materials would be sold in exchange for iron ore sold at a fixed price, Runan truly believed this would flush the Roskana economy with much needed foreign currency and feed the military industrial complex all it needed in terms of materials.
Once his request to the Diamid was sent off, so were his staff reaching out to the other countries for iron ore. But Runan didn't stop there, he already had some clothes, suits, hats, and a small meal of salted pork and black coffee waiting for him in a car outside the mill. "Get me to the dock, long night ahead of me." He would head to Arema and meet with the leadership there, it was beyond time to revamp the Roskanan colony.
