Ashinara was experiencing one crisis after another. The war in Tafatu, leading to protests and riots. A severe natural disaster in one of the provinces. An inability to support an ally from an invading horde of Kumosenkan. And now, Hetman Gavrylo was on his deathbed. It was expected to happen, after all, the Hetman was, without exaduration, ancient. Just a couple months before his 100th birthday, he has lived well over the average 75 year expectancy of most Ashinarans. A week he was nursed by the best doctors in the nation, but, alas, all they could do was make sure he didn't suffer.
Meanwhile the Court, knowing the inevitable, was preparing Princess Yuzura for her ascension to the throne. It was not a lot of work, thankfully. In the last 5 or so years, Yuzura has effectively taken over the day-to-day responsibilities of her father as he was getting increasingly too old and sick to attend to his duties. Other than the passing of her father, not much would change for her. The coronation will be no more than a formality.
On Vaylien 15th the ceremony has taken place at the Royal Shrine just outside the Royal Palace. Attended by thousands of people, some who even made the journey from other cities, Princess Yuzura has been crowned Hetman.
