Valdera
Former Xagreau Lands
"Come on Angus! It's just snow!"
The young Mil'Nor called out to his human friend as the two stumbled around in the snow. Both their families had been recipients of land redistribution during the summer, the two youths having become fast friends during their schooling. Angus's family had come from the UKUG, the boy towering over his smaller Mil'Nor despite their similar age.
"Don't mean it can't be a bit hard ta pass by, Colm! Your feet barely sink in the stuff!" A touch of laughter was felt in Angus's voice as he spoke, the boy busy compressing a ball of snow as he followed behind his friend. He'd let the Mil'Nor walk a few more paces forward before lining up a throw at his friend. It'd only be when he was about to let loose that Angus would see It, the color draining from his face as the view of a faraway hill caught his eye. The old tree ontop of the hill had severed as a climbing spot for the boys more then once over the past few seasons, but the dark silhouette he saw hanging from one of it's branches caused Angus's gut to wrench.
"Just because you walk like a bull dosen-" Colm cut himself short when he looked back at his friend, his own gaze following to land on the old tree. The lizard's eyes served him better as he saw the battered body of what could only be a child swaying in the wind.

"Another one?"
Kathrine glared at the report, an exhausted sigh coming from her as she set it down with several near identical papers. War with the Xagreau had been a quick affair, all things considered, but it seemed the attitudes of it's people would take far longer to stamp out. Killings and violent crime had only risen in the former nationalist states lands, with several families already having seen their children slain in the name of revenge. The blood spilled during the war had seen many of those sons and fathers sent by Gentaki into battle perish, the animosity still heavy between former Xagreau and the Valderan settlers.
"Unfortunately. Seems some hatchlings found this one in a tree." Dravos replied, the High Marshal clenching a fist in an attempt to restrain himself. "We don't have any leads on suspects, unless we start by incarcerating the entire ganglank population. I've already ordered a deployment to the region to try and aid the local guards, but until they understand that they lost, I expect these ganglank to continue taking out their anger and grief on our people." Kathrine nodded in response. "Their leaders may have surrendered, but their will remains unbroken. General Tyrann will break them again, one way or another. We'll begin with more boots on the ground while I look into some backdoors, there's bound to be a few malcontents driving this."
