The Koian Economy
The Ida Koian Economy is a State Capitalist system. Private industry owns most of the sectors of the economy, although the government has total control over some key components of it. The nation has gained most of its wealth from its extensive Staol trade, having slowly been building up its reach over the years. It's major Staol trading partner, the Federal Republic of Amali, is also one of its closest trading partners.
Government-Owned Sectors
Railroads
National Koian Railroad
The National Koian Railroad (NKRR) is the largest owner and operator of the railroads within Ida Koi. Most standard gauge [4'8.5"] railroads are under the operation of the NKRR within the nation, and those not directly owned do allow for the NKRR to operate on them. The NKRR serves as the primary railroad company for the nation, serving passenger, freight, and mail throughout the country.
International Koian Railroad Company
The International Koian Railroad Company (IKRR) is the largest railroad company in the world, operating throughout several countries. The IKRR owns and operates the Staol Trade Network (STN), a series of railroads connecting many northern countries and allowing for the easy shipment of staol between.
The IKRR was created after the Third Staol War with the Treaty of [name], creating the first official staol trade route between the Tyvian Empire and Ida Koi. The IKRR serves by treaty with various nations, signing leases of land to construct and build the rail network. Irregardless of the gauge of track of the country in question, all IKRR-operated railroads are 4'8.5" gauge [standard gauge]. They stretch across the northern hemisphere, connecting nearly every nation.

Mineral Extraction
Koian Staol Commission
Staol is extracted by the Koian Staol Commission. All Staol is extracted by this sole company, who also facilitates the selling and distribution of Staol within the borders of Ida Koi. Formed at the collapse of the Staol Industry during the Depression of 1886, the KSC was created from the government purchases of the North Rogorod Mining Company and the Fyl Mining Corporation. Their merger helped to consolidate infrastructure, which was later used to purchase the corpses of the other companies until only the KSC was remaining.
Uranium Mining Commission
The Uranium Mining Commission was formed in 1947 when deposits of Uranium were uncovered in Eastern Kesk Korella. The ensuing health crisis caused by the unknown exposure to the material by several civilians led to the government operation of all extraction to prevent another health crisis.
