"What kind of teas do you have?" Robin asked with a smile, sitting down at the other side of the Minister's desk, "I may like something a bit harder later, but that should wait for after the deal. Work before play, and all." He waited eagerly to see what was on those papers so he could start to try and formulate an offer, or counteroffer if the Gaelians already had one.

Murphy had a cup of Sodor light tea made for the ambassador, it was a rather pleasant flavored tea if not a bit more on the savory side of things. “So I’m sure you’re aware of the Lusatian decision to limit silver trade and our parliament along with King McDonald have decreed to support this notion. Which unfortunately means our accord for frannerre port usage and consumer purchases is at a standstill for now.”
Murphy pulled the papers forward and began reading them, “they want to know what else frannerre can offer before they ask a cash amount for the current agreements to continue.” Murphy clearly tried to remain professional but her tone showed she didn’t like having to deliver such harsh news to the Franneri.

'At the very least, she looks to be on my side here.' "With any luck, the port agreement shouldn't be needed for much longer," Robin said, pausing to take a drink of the tea before continuing. "I don't exactly get minute-by-minute updates from the front, as you can imagine, but what news I do get is generally good. But back to the topic at hand. The easiest things for Franerre to export would be Raw Materials, Heavy Materials, and Luxury Goods, with most anything else requiring shifting some numbers around, which would be a headache Franerre would like to avoid if we could help it. Considering that the deal shouldn't last much longer, could you potentially allow the silver trade to remain in place for the port deal? It would still limit the flow of silver into Gaelia, while at the same time making this renegotiation that much smoother."

"Parliament is rather stern on the change, but given the terrible war in Central Touli several members of Parliament including the crown do not wish for the war to continue further. Your blockade being lifted would allow UST to regain lost ground and likely cause the war to last much longer, that said we can keep the current amount we currently have for payment but to prevent the more...abrasive members of Parliament pushing the deal be voided perhaps we can work on some kind of expansion of trade operations?"

Robin chuckled a little bit, "The reason I say the deal will be ending soon is because the war will be ending soon, in all hopes. Reports from the front say that the current forces deployed are likely the Union's last hurrah, and I'd be surprised if the Kithium League didn't join the war any day now. But I digress. As for an exclusive trade operation..." Robin paused, thinking, "That may be a bitter pill for Pareau to swallow. We like to keep our options open. Still, I'll hear your offer out, at least."

"Not exclusive, extension. UKUG would like to increase the flow of consumer goods, materials, rail equipment and other goods. We want a larger role in Touli trade economics and we think the increasing of UKUG/Frannerri trade."

"You'll have to forgive my confusion, then," Robin asked, a quizzical look on his face, "If Gaelia wishes to export goods to Franerre, Franerre would have to pay somehow, and the whole point of this meeting is that you won't accept large amounts of Franerri silver any more. An exclusivity deal would have at least secured such a large trade advantage that it would have been worth the cost of increased silver, but I digress since the point's moot anyway. As far as trade expansions, Franerre may be interested in some increase in Consumer Good exports but...tell me, Gaelia was recently involved in expanding rail lines in Mil'Nor, no?"

"Yes, a company called Great Western Railway via UKUG contract is expanding the Mil'Nor railroad."

(OOC note: tons = units for the point sheet)
Robin smiled. "Good to know Mil'Nor will be on the same gauge as us, but that will most likely be of use later. For the time being, well, I think the only route of expansion Franerre would be interested in would be Consumer Goods, perhaps an additional thousand tons. What would Gaelia be willing to take in exchange, for both the expansion and existing trade?"

"Does Frannerre have any gold?"

"We keep some on-hand, but Franerre's wealth is in silver, not gold. Franerre could potentially import more, but I'd prefer to work with what we have on hand rather than needing to go import more," Robin answered.

"That's understandable, what if we used the Frannerre currency?"

Robin paused, mulling it over. "...that could potentially be amenable. How much currency are you thinking?"

"If the conversion rate I have is accurate it comes to 18,456,587 Parian."

That was...quite a lot of money. Too much for Robin's taste. Time to press a little. "That's a lot of currency to go flowing out of Franerre," Robin said, "We would need to negotiate that figure down, or perhaps to a mixed exchange of goods and currency. Maybe even both. What would you say to, let's say..." Robin trailed off, thinking of a figure, "...4,500 tons of silver and 8.5 million Parian?"
