Scene: Fessera 11th, 1931. Office of Appointed Deacon and Aide to the High Chief, Castle Tolvaj, Capital City New Raltera of Mil'Nor.
Kathrine Mengele was not one to let fate be decided for her. The woman had, per usual, taken an role of pulling the strings for her father whenever he left the castle. It was nothing new to her, the woman having been encouraged and taught how to do so by both her father and the tutors assigned to her. She had found a love for the work, the act of planning being far more useful then the long term plans she every devised. Adaptation was the true focus of her application of the lessons taught, and her works so far had gone far past initial hopes. The diplomatic meetings with both Kumo and the UKUG had progressed well in the early phases thus far, and with Ashinarian Sliver soon coming into hand, another rail line could be built in the spring to the Kithium. Her father had insisted on going to the meetings himself, stressing the desire to secure an alliance with the Kithium. She had to admit, having a land based power tied to the nation would be useful, given how Mil'Nor would then assume the naval defense between the two. The Icebreakers the nation had in stock were truly unique to a Touli state, and with Kath's plans already making use of their Kumo agreements, it would be easy to assume that role.
She'd let out a sigh as she sat within her office, the room a half deshelled mess. It wasn't the biggest of offices, both decently furnished nonetheless. A window behind her lent some of the little winter sun to be had in, the few hours of light being faint during these cold months. To the sides of the room, the walls were fitted with top to bottom wall bookcases, with spots only broken for the occasional filling cabinet or map. She'd scan over her notes and papers on the desk, the pile scattered slightly between pages. Another report had come in about the recruitment drive. Numbers had been swelling even within the past few days. Early estimates put a handy one-hundred thousand men ready for equipment and duty by early spring, and another roughly four-hundred thousand well on the way. The Field Brigadiers and Fleet Captains would need to figure out proper divisions after the numbers were final, but compared to what they currently had on hand, it was a massive improvement. Luckily, if either talks directly with Kumo or the UKUG went well, they could see about arms shipments for the new forces.
Mil'Nor will either be an industrialized power on Touli, or not at all.
