The meeting in the Rada was taking quite some time. A week before Princess Yuzuru and several other dignitaries were scheduled to depart for a formal visit to Mil'Nor's Day of Rising, she has called for a meeting to discuss a looming issue. Ashinara was lagging behind. All of Tafatu was, to be fair, but Ashinara was most important to Yuzuru. The country was, in comparison to their potential enemies in the Old World, underdeveloped, undermechanized, underindustrialized and unprepared. Even the capital Kyograd was not fully electrified, what could be said about the countryside? No, it was time to act, and act fast. Ashinara was 50 years behind, and had to make up for it in no more than 10.
The first phase of what the Princess has dubbed the "New Old World Plan", would see the brightest minds of Ashinara's younger generation receive top notch education. A new school would be established in Kyograd - the Royal Academy of Progress. This would be the nation's first government funded school. Parents of all classes, from noblemen to the poorest of peasants, would be encouraged let their kids take assessments of their intelligence, and for that, a program, dubbed "Reaching the Brightest" would be established, under which assessment teams, also funded by the government, would travel to all Ashinaran settlements and test as many kids as they could. All those passing a certain threshold would be compiled into a list, from which the top kids would be picked to fill the school to capacity. It would be a boarding school, since the goal is to bring in the bright minds of Ashinara no matter where they lived, and all the expenses for the kids, from the travel from home to school at the beginning of the school year and back for the summer holiday, living and food, tuition and school supplies, all was covered by the government. No expense would be spared. Teachers from the few existing Ashinaran Universities would be invited to teach at the school, as well as diplomat missions would be sent to several nations to invite teachers from abroad.
In the meantime, the brightest of University students - which, due to the nature of Ashinara's society, meant, at least for now, that the selection was limited exclusively for nobility, would, with full government funding, be sent abroad to study important aspects that would be needed to progress the nation. Engineering in various fields, Medical, Military, various Sciences, and other important spheres.
While education of the new generation was being taken care of, the older had to be uplifted as well. This endeavor, however, was predicted to be much more challenging, both logistically and financially. As a first step, however, Weekend Schools would be established in all regional centers, with plans to expand the operation to as many population centers as possible, to educate the illiterate adult population. Everyone had to know how to read and write, even the lowliest of farmers, if they were to learn how to use tractors in the future to make their farming more productive.
There were, however, matters that had to be addressed right now, not in the future when a generation of students finishes their studies. Diplomats would be sent to various nations to acquire production licenses - along with the equipment and knowledge needed to use those licenses - of some of the more important spheres that Ashinara was behind in.
