Le Troi was healing, slowly, but still healing. Large sections of the city were being rebuilt and hundreds of workers repaired infrastructure projects getting basic services back on track. In the courthouse a large gathering of Tafatu representatives were assembling, but even those beyond Tafatu were showing up wanting to join the new republic much to the surprise of Kendaya.
The three big players were High Chief Khoza of the Tribal Confederation, Gunta LaMarr an elected leader of the mining provinces and of course Charles Kendaya of Tafatu. Khoza and LaMarr came wanting to bring their territories into the new republic, Khoza's forces had seized Zhest Gav and offered it along with the Western expanse, LaMarr's people had been abused by the 6th Army and wanted to join their mountain region and gold/silver mines. Kendaya realized the Republic would be larger than he initially thought.
"We're here to declare independence formally from the Union of South Touli, with this action. We shall draft an official constitution, government and elect from this chamber our first President of this Republic." said the speaker. Many slapped their tables in agreement.
Some arguments were made for certain parties and factions, but most agreed, a senate and break down of representatives across the Republic to be elected every four years along with the president. "Now...who will be our first president." The chamber after being filled with the sounds of debating and rambling fell silent. One man a Tafatu from the Western provinces stood up, "There is but one man here worthy of the position and he sits right there, Charles Kendaya" a thunderous applaud followed with several members agreeing. Another man stood up, "Kendaya bares in full, the scars of our struggle. He is the best man." The group again applauded and agreed, "Does this assembly hereby accept, Charles Kendaya as the first President of the Tafatu Republic?" there wasn't a silent voice in the room. Kendaya was stunned, shocked to be honest. "Then by the power invested in me and this assembly, Kendaya please stand." Kendaya propped himself on his crutch before the speaker proceeded, "You are the first President of this Republic. In four years time the people will hold public elections for your office. Do you accept?" Charles Kendaya, in the loudest and clearest he has ever been said "I do!".
The Speaker then addressed him as Mr. President, Charles Kendaya of the Tafatu Republic.
From this courthouse the Tafatu declared their official independence as a republic from the UST. Their territory stretching from Zhest Gav to the central plains of the UST and mountain range to Tafatu proper.
