Opinion: The World dependency of Staol
My name is Tyrole Sendahten, I work for Maersk Bros. a small gear and parts company that primarily constructions parts for Ulzhite locomotive engines and trucks going over rail networks across the world. I have spend 12 years working my way up from assembly line, quality inspection to finally, foreman. And in those years, I have had the same opinion that my comrades simply shrug off, "We are too dependent on Staol". Every day, trains bring in several metric tons of Staol from Ida Koi, worth billions of Krona to power the country, and we're not alone. While we ship several quantities, we pale in comparison to other countries usage and need for the alien product, and that's exactly what it is...alien. But its origin is something that no longer matters, its a part of our world now, surging forth the industrial might of several nations...until it runs out. Ulzhitz sits on a bed of oil, that oil is used domestically but isn't anywhere close to an amount to sell off to replace what Staol was. There are no reports, studies or even public information made available of how much of this resource is left for consumption, let alone to ship it out like Ida Koi does. Entire swaths of the Northern economy is dependent on Staol, and much of the globe matches that dependency. Is there enough Staol for my children's generation? or my grand children? when does it end? will it bring another Staol war? We don't know and that's the scary thing about the Staol economy. While Ulzhitz gets a steady supply from simply buying it, if Staol disappeared the country would enter recession immediately. Oil wouldn't be enough, at least the domestic amounts of it. Such a crash would cripple the global market, which brings me to my final point. Ida Koi can shut the flow off at anytime. Right now, it makes no sense to, they're making money hand over fist and could become the wealthiest nation in the world within a few decades. But they can also cripple the world trade market. I think our nation needs alternative sources of energy, more development of our domestic oil and preparation for such an event to prevent Krona losing its value in the region.
