In ancient history, Marrish peoples foundations of self reliance and defense were cemented. A defensive warrior culture permeates its every being and even when subdued, their ironwill and drive held strong. In recent history during the independence war, bands of people came together to fight for a common cause. Under the banner of gold red and black, the common man who was not a soldier stood tall for his or her community. Organizing themselves these people formed militias to properly fight back. The ones who knew their homelands, the terrain, the towns, the woods. Masters of their own home they fought, and fought well. In the modern day, these militias remain strong organized further through a basic rank structure and occasional readiness drills. These everyday men and women may not be the original Civis Militis Hostaroms, but they are of the same ilk and they carry the tradition forward.
