Auran and the Foundations of Roskana
Section 1. Auranites to the Tsardom's founding
In the bay of Auran, would be built the great city of Auranapolis, the capital of an ancient empire who's history stretches back almost two thousand years. Built on the ancient ruins of an older society from which the Auranites sprang, the people of Auran were hemmed in on one side by mountains, and the other, the oceans of Ouhiri, and a narrow strip of land leading out to the most habitable Eastern edge of Reseria, and then away further to the mainland itself. The Auranites built ships made of wood and sail, and crossed the shallow waters, building a early empire of city states in the shallows of what would be the Roskanan coastline, colonizing the vast collection of islands and establishing a maritime society that as well, grew over land. As they expanded, they brought with them their science, their knowledge, and their trade - but with it as well they brought their swords.
They would encounter first the Kithium in the north, and across the mountains, where they built the first tunnels and bridges to facilitate trade with this nearby society. Kin under their eyes and that of Razina, the Kithium and Auranites would eventually merge into a Great League, and form the first Auranite League. The Kithium cities along this northern frontier were gradually integrated into this expansive union, until the Auranites encountered the Kiralians, a near-human species of Goat People, or just called at the time, The Rammen. Similarly so they believed in a religion that referred to a mythical figure, 'Raz'. Their religion and the Auranites own, which placed Razina as a creator figure, were virtually identical.
The Kiralians were integrated peacefully into the expanding Auranite empire, though this peaceful integration was often contested. Small skirmishes and revolts eventually led to a more unhappy occupation, before the Auranites fully conquered the Kiralians, and their distant colonies on the Island of Kiras.
To the south, the Auranites encountered a league of Barbarian tribes simply called 'The Barrabans', of which had begun to form a more stable society in the wake of a war of secession. Similarly religious and carrying that belief in Razina of whom they called 'Asuryon', their Clan-Lord, chief of the many clans of the Barraban Royals, negotiated their entry into the Auranite League, and formalized it in a notable way - by marrying the Auranite Queen Avoneta. The name 'Rosa' would be adopted in the years after as the empire would become a early, semi-feudal confederacy under the Auranites and Barrabans, to which would intermingle heavily. Barraban princes married Auran Princesses, vice versa, and notably - Princes married princes, Princesses married Princesses, though this was notably rare. Similarly so the same happened to Kithium and others.
The Auranite Confederacy continued to expand west - encountering the Feudal Confederacy of Ald, a kingdom ruled by the Festria warlord Carious. And it'd be here, that the mortal enemy of Auran would be met, having been at war with the Aldenites for centuries by then. In exchange for joining the Auranite Confederacy, they wanted military protection. And they received it.
The first battle between the Auranites, and the Grinvelians, was a bloody affair, and a definitive victory for Auran.
Ald joined them not long after. The Festria similarly so to the Barrabans grew out in a prolific intermingling as the Auranites brought their culture, their science, their architecture and took lessons in the same topics from Ald in turn, like they had all the others, creating a strengthening bond between them all. And in the south, they would encounter the Karrashi.
The Karrashi were a noble people of farmers and warriors, to which had been ruled traditionally by three distinct Queendoms, of which the strongest was the Queendom of Clan Karshkan. The other two, Feralden and Avuraun. All three were together, integrated into the Confederacy as part of a peace deal between each Queendom, mediated by Auran. Finally, the Auranite Confederacy had solidified into a more firm base.
The Rosark League.
The Rosark League was still headed by the Auranites, though Auranite had become distinctly multicultural in nature.
Auranapolis, a vast city now sprawling with ancient and new quarters, vast harbors and monuments made from the wealth of their trade and conquest, had come to be home to every member of the League. A beating heart to a powerful empire. In the past it had simply been 'Auranite Humans', peoples descended from the ancient Rombardan Humans who they had built their homes atop the ruins of. Now they were a people of many races, but one culture.
Kithium, Kiralians, Humans, Festria, Karrashi. And before long it'd soon be others.
The Auranite's would expand their empire to the south, past the border of the Three Karrashi Kingdoms, and soon to another.
The Marrish Kingdom would be encountered by the Rosarks, and expeditions eventually lead to the establishment of formal relations. This eventually results in trade, and a cultural exchange by proxy, as Rosark technology and merchant practices make inroads into the Marrish Kingdom. Though soon they as well meet the Shazzak Joint Kingdoms and similarly begin trade.
When the Coastal Marrelak Dominion would be formed, after the raising of Nellrae, they would eventually secure the integration of the CMD by providing them in turn with direct military aid and sustained trade, as well - Rosark concrete, to build their roads and cities, repaired by the rain over time. Their war with the Boorish Kingdom would eventually end with Rosark forces directly assisting in their subjugation, whilst as well beginning to build a new city on the border of the Marrish, Shazzack, and Karrashi quarter of the Rosark nation, founding Agraia.
The Rosark League would in the century after, become a vassal empire to the larger Veraki empire in the south with an arranged Imperial marriage between the at the time King Hasrun, and the Veraki Princess Athame. This marriage however ends with the Veraki Princess assuming the throne when her husband and the king die. She takes a number of Kithium Concubines and rules for almost sixty years before she would meet her end from natural causes, with her daughters inheriting the newly minted Rosarka Principality.
Numerous rebellions, particularly prominently in the Marrish regions, make communication and control of the Rosark lands difficult, and very nearly succeed in throwing off the yolk of Veraki oppression - however their failure continues to keep them subjugated. But as the Veraki empire would several centuries later enter a steep decline, another rebellion would give way, lasting decades and beginning in the Karrashi kingdom of the Queendom of Karshkan, though the Barrabans would similarly rise in revolt.
The queen at the time, was not a pureblood Veraki and infact, the dynasty had long since ceased to be Veraki - referring to itself only ceremonially as such. Still, it would be slaughtered as the first Barraban prince to enter the throne room in centuries, and the first Tsar, would throw the last princess down the steps of the Ziggurat of Auran, and claim the throne - Tsar Akarious Vantera of Bara'Varrashia.
Or simply, Tsar Vantera.
