With the end of the Xagreau war, the newly conquered lands were quickly brought to heel by permanent establishment of the nation's military forces there. Much of the work done in fortifying the area was now used in it's occupation as settlers from the nation's core were ushered in. The Valderan government, under High Marshal Dravos's orders, had begun a number of new small land subsidies for poorer families of the cities to settle, along with offering larger tax exemptions and proper funds towards private capital investment.
The switch from coal to staol had seen a vast increase in the nations available industrial output, further aiding construction efforts. Government spending was mostly directed towards infrastructure efforts, the landscape to be replaced with either small farmsteads or large ramshackle 'compounds' that the Mil'Nor built for new state housing. Tools, seed and feed were distributed at government expense to settlers upon arrival, with pamphlets on basic farming as well. Much of the uban area's would begin to lose their slum population as a result, the cities poor leaping at a chance to own a small plot for themselves.
