With the Notch firmly secured and the hideous blight on Elenria's defensive structure cured, construction on the wall began. General Makoto Suzuki had long been a proponent of the necessity of a massive defensive embrasure against threats south of the taln river. Ever since her promotion to general her primary focus has been that river, and the massive tactical disadvantage the notch proved. Now with the river fully under Kumosenkan control her plan would finally be realized. Due to her incredible success of the war, Empress Reito had dubbed the defensive emplacement along the river to be the "Suzuki Line." The absolute defeat of Franerre further justified every point Suzuki had made to the Empress's cabinet.

Intensive earthworks began all along the Franerri-Elenrian border. Underground concrete defenses were being built. Anti-personnel minefields, double machine gun pillboxes with triple overlapping fields of fire, retractable three inch turrets designed by the navy, backed up by standard a hundred and fifty millimeter artillery, backed up by massive two hundred and forty millimeter siege artillery. Observation posts, ammunition and supply depots, telephone lines, radios, all connected by an underground electric tram system. The Majority of this had already begun construction, but now with the notch captured it could finally be finished.

Undercover of darkness, Kumo engineer squads rigged every single still standing bridge, even if it was just a rope bridge, with high explosives. There were strict orders that if a single soul with a rifle was seen on any bridge across the Taln, the bridge was to be blown.
