Taxation
At the federal level, there is a 15.0% flat tax on income. It is taken out prior to receiving one's paycheck. This can be increased to as high as 30% during times of war or as low as 5% during times of economic hardship. Citizens must apply for tax exemption if sufficient evidence shows they are unable to afford necessities with the tax at its current level.
There is a 20.0% corporate tax.
There is also a 4.5% tariff on all imported goods.

Housing
Citizens are guaranteed housing in tenements should they be unable to afford their own housing. Citizens must show they are actively searching for a job if its due to unemployment, otherwise will be left alone if it's just a low-paying job. The tenements are not top-of-the-line, nor support large families, but are good for citizens in a pinch. Citizens wishing for more are expected to earn the money for it.
Age of Consent
The Age of Consent of Ida Koi is 18. Romeo and Juliet Laws allow for a two-year-grace, meaning an 18 year old may have relations with a 16 year old, however a 19 year old can be hit with legal fines.
Marriage
Citizens are permitted to marry / obtain a civil union at their discretion. Citizens may not have arranged marriages without the consent of both parties. Polygamy is not illegal, but can only be obtained via civil unions, with most institutions refusing to recognize it as a marriage. Citizens younger than the Age of Consent cannot marry.
Until 1913, homosexual marriages were illegal under penalty of fines.
Until 1941, inter-species marriages were illegal under penalty of fines, but not rare. They just had no legal standing before the law.
Age of Consumption
The legally defined Age of Consumption is 25, though persons as young as 16 may drink provided they are in the company of family and behind private doors. Those of 21 years old may drink in public provided they are accompanied by family. The legal limit is 0.08 BAC.
Right to Bear Arms
Citizens of age 16 and older may own rifles with necessary regulations. Citizens of age 18 and older may own small handguns to sub-machine guns with necessary regulations. Citizens of age 21 and older may own decommissioned military vehicles with necessary regulations. Citizens may not own explosive weapons, long-range artillery, or (decom or active) fighter aircraft.
