Civilian Laws

Taxation

At the federal level, there is a 15.0% flat tax on income. It is taken out prior to receiving one's paycheck. This can be increased to as high as 30% during times of war or as low as 5% during times of economic hardship. Citizens must apply for tax exemption if sufficient evidence shows they are unable to afford necessities with the tax at its current level.

There is a 20.0% corporate tax.

There is also a 4.5% tariff on all imported goods.

Housing

Citizens are guaranteed housing in tenements should they be unable to afford their own housing. Citizens must show they are actively searching for a job if its due to unemployment, otherwise will be left alone if it's just a low-paying job. The tenements are not top-of-the-line, nor support large families, but are good for citizens in a pinch. Citizens wishing for more are expected to earn the money for it.

Age of Consent

The Age of Consent of Ida Koi is 18. Romeo and Juliet Laws allow for a two-year-grace, meaning an 18 year old may have relations with a 16 year old, however a 19 year old can be hit with legal fines.

Marriage

Citizens are permitted to marry / obtain a civil union at their discretion. Citizens may not have arranged marriages without the consent of both parties. Polygamy is not illegal, but can only be obtained via civil unions, with most institutions refusing to recognize it as a marriage. Citizens younger than the Age of Consent cannot marry.

Until 1913, homosexual marriages were illegal under penalty of fines.

Until 1941, inter-species marriages were illegal under penalty of fines, but not rare. They just had no legal standing before the law.

Age of Consumption

The legally defined Age of Consumption is 25, though persons as young as 16 may drink provided they are in the company of family and behind private doors. Those of 21 years old may drink in public provided they are accompanied by family. The legal limit is 0.08 BAC.

Right to Bear Arms

Citizens of age 16 and older may own rifles with necessary regulations. Citizens of age 18 and older may own small handguns to sub-machine guns with necessary regulations. Citizens of age 21 and older may own decommissioned military vehicles with necessary regulations. Citizens may not own explosive weapons, long-range artillery, or (decom or active) fighter aircraft.

Criminal Laws

Wearing Excessively Monotone Clothing

Regional Misdemeanor.

Wearing excessively bland or monotone clothing outside of formal or work occasions. Can receive fines of up to ≛10,000 depending on the egregiousness of the outfit.

Applies to all states.

Outstanding Citizen Compliance

Misdemeanor.

Citizens who have flaunt having absolutely no criminal record can receive fines of up to ≛10,000 as no complying citizen would show off their compliance to the laws.

Trespassing

Misdemeanor.

Enter another's property without their permission. If found guilty, up to 30 days jail and/or fines of ≛25,000.

Hunting on Sacred Grounds

Misdemeanor.

Hunting animals on sacred grounds, such as cemeteries or religious grounds. If found guilty, up to 30 days jail and/or fines of ≛30,000.

Gambling

Misdemeanor.

Engaging in games of chance for money. Can be arrest for if in public, otherwise cannot be charged with directly, usually tacked on with other charges. If found guilty, up to 30 days jail and/or fines of ≛50,000.

Prostitution

Misdemeanor.

Engaging in sexual activities with another for payment. Can be arrested for if in public, otherwise cannot be charged with directly, usually tacked on with other charges. If found guilty, up to 30 days jail and/or fines of ≛50,000.

Disruption of Rail Service

Misdemeanor.

Preventing the timely movement of trains while in operation. If found guilty, up to 2 years hard labor and/or fines of ≛5,000,000.

Petty Theft

Misdemeanor.

Stealing an item from an individual/establishment. If found guilty, up to 1 year prison.

Disturbing the Peace

Misdemeanor.

Disrupting the average citizen's day, particularly by being loud, obstructive, or fighting. If found guilty, up to 10 days jail and fines of ≛10,000.

Public Intoxication

Misdemeanor.

Being above the legal limit while in public. If found guilty, up to 30 days jail and fines of ≛5,000.

False Advertising

Misdemeanor.

Falsely displaying, advertising, or informing someone of something. If found guilty, up to 1 year prison time and must reimburse all those who purchased the product.

False Flag

Misdemeanor.

Falsely accusing another of a crime knowing they're aware the other party is innocent. If found guilty, up to 1 year hard labor.

Driving Under the Influence

Felony.

Driving with alcohol content higher than the legal number. If found guilty, up to 2 years hard labor and revocation of license with no renewal.

Rioting

Felony.

The violent disturbance of the peace. If found guilty, up to 1 year in prison.

Inciting Riot

Felony.

Attempting to violently disturbance the peace. If found guilty, 1-2 years hard labor.

Piracy

Felony.

Attacking and robbing ships and/or hijacking. If found guilty, 3-5 years hard labor.

Unauthorized use or reproduction of another's work. If found guilty, up to 1 year in prison.

False Opinions of Government Officials

Felony.

Spreading false opinions of government officials. If found guilty, 1-2 years hard labor.

False Accusations of Government Officials

Felony.
Falsely accusing government officials of wrongdoing. If found guilty, 1-2 years hard labor.

Destruction of Property

Felony.

Damaging another's property. If found guilty, 3-5 years hard labor.

False Opinions of Dictator

Felony.
Spreading false opinions of the dictator. If found guilty, 5-10 years hard labor.

False Accusations of Dictator

Felony.
Falsely accusing the dictator of wrongdoing. If found guilty, 10-15 years hard labor.

In some areas, can have significantly worse penalties.

Abuse

Felony.

Harming another person. If found guilty, 5-10 years hard labor.

Reckless Endangerment of Life

Felony.

Causing potential harm to others through the carelessness of one's actions. If found guilty, 5-10 years hard labor.

Theft

Felony.

Stealing goods/money from an individual, typically while armed. If found guilty, 5-10 years hard labor.

Robbery

Felony.

Stealing large amounts of goods/money from a home/establishment, typically while armed. If found guilty, 5-10 years hard labor.

Sabotage

Felony.

Disruption of production, extraction, or service of a company/department. If found guilty, 15-25 years hard labor.

Bribery

Felony.

Giving or accepting gifts for the purpose of payment to get one's way. If found guilty, 5 years hard labor. If a civil servant, will not be allowed to work in office again after serving time.

Aggravated Assault

Felony.

Harming another person with a weapon. If found guilty, 10 years hard labor.

Sexual Assault

Felony.

Unwanted / inappropriate touching of another person with or around sexual organs. If found guilty, 10 years hard labor. Person(s) may be forced to receive vasectomy at request of victim/victim's family.

Disruption of Staol Transport

Federal Crime.

Prevention of the movement of Staol. If found guilty, up to life imprisonment at work camp.

Trafficking

Federal Crime.

Movement of people or illegal goods across state or international borders. If found guilty, life imprisonment at work camp, no parole.

Manslaughter / 3rd Degree Murder

Federal Crime.

Unintentional / spur of the moment murder of an individual / individuals. If found guilty, life imprisonment at work camp.

Rape

Federal Crime.

Forcing one's self on another without consent. If found guilty with undeniable proof, death penalty, usually by firing squad. If found guilty but not enough evidence for absolute ruling, life imprisonment at work camp.

Pedophilia / Possession of CP

Federal Crime.

Sexual attraction to a minor / possessing material featuring minors. If found guilty with undeniable proof, death penalty by undisclosed means. If found guilty but not enough evidence for absolute ruling, life imprisonment at work camp.

2nd Degree Murder

Federal Crime.

Un-premeditated murder of an individual / individuals. If found guilty with undeniable proof, death penalty, usually by firing squad. If found guilty but not enough evidence, life imprisonment at work camp.

1st Degree Murder

Federal Crime.

Premeditated murder of an individual / individuals. If found guilty with undeniable proof, death penalty, usually by firing squad. If found guilty but not enough evidence, life imprisonment at work camp, no parole.

Spying

Federal Crime.

Foreign person(s) found guilty of relaying state secrets to foreign nation. If found guilty, death penalty, usually by firing squad.

Treason

Federal Crime.

Betrayal of state by sharing state secrets to another, helping a nation gain access to vital information/entrance to country, or otherwise. If found guilty, death penalty, usually by firing squad. Some instances in the past have had the dictator themselves execute the traitor.
