The Ashinaran R&D has spent over a year not doing much with one of the tasks assigned to them - developing an indigenous helmet design that would be just as effective as the ones received from Gaelia during the Tafatu War, but distinct in appearance and culturally distinct to Ashinara.
With the invitation to the War Games hosted in Zedonia, they were told that they have 2 weeks to present the High Command with a prototype, and if approved, to begin production before the games would begin so that the new design could be tried in action.
Studying the thickness of the Gaelic helms, the Ashinaran engineers applied it to a design based off of a pre-industrial helmet used by Ashinaran warriors of old. The first batch of prototypes were made and tested, by having a couple artillery shells explode in their vicinity, Finding the results satisfactory, the designed was immediately pushed into production, with a batch of 20,000 ordered to be produced within the first 4 weeks, with at least 1,000 of them being delivered to the troops within at least 2 weeks.
While the shape of the resulting helmet was a bit more complex, resulting in several more steps in the stamping process for the steel shell, the internal liner and straps were simpler and cheaper when compared to the UKUG helmet.
The new helmet, called Sholom in Ashinaran, would be designated Sholom Type-34, while the old UKUG helmet would finally be given it's old designation to distinguish it in paperwork from the new helmet - Sholom Type-31, after the year when Ashinara first received them.
