Gelasian Age 2.58-1.8 Ma
The first known emergence of the Vulpini Sapiens, informally known as the Ashin, and the earliest uncovered evidence of nomadic tribes on the Nishin Island. It is presumed that at this time the Ashin led a hunter-gatherer lifestyle, with no domesticated livestock. Furthermore, evidence - or lack-there-of - points to the possibility that fire has not yet been discovered by the Ashin at this time.
Chibanian Age 781000-126000 IC
Ashin tribes grow in number and size. First evidence of use of fire as well as domestication of certain animals emerges. It is presumed that the origin of the Ashin Spiritualism religion takes root in this time period.
Tarantian Age 126,000-11,000 IC
Earliest evidence of burial rituals is found here. Burial mounds, where the tribe would cremate and preserve the ashes of the deceased fellow tribesmen are the preferred method, with several of these ancient mounds surviving to this day. The invention of archery leads to significantly more successful rate of hunts, leading to an increase in population. More grazing animals domesticated. A basic understanding that a seed from a plant eventually grows a new plant. While agriculture does not yet become mainstream, a number of tribes begin cultivating fruit trees along their nomadic migration routes.
Novianean Age 11000-8200 IC
Discovery of cereal grasses, and their eventual domestication. A wide-spread adoption of agriculture results in many nomadic tribes settling down into permanent settlements. The time freed from moving around could now be dedicated more to other pursuits. As a result, Ashin population grows exponentially in just a dozen or so generations. Beginnings of the Ashinaran culture as it is known today start to form. Emergence of trade network between settlements. Emergence of first pictographic writing systems, used to record things such as harvest amounts, population census and even religious tales. First known war happens in this period.
Northgrippian Age 8200-4200 IC
As agricultural knowledge, along with the population, continued growing, more and more people found available time to pursuit things other than basic survival. Many of the crafts emerge, along with specialization of individuals. It is believed that the first class systems emerge here, although they are still largely equal, as they all depend upon each other for survival.
Age of Civilization 4200 - 1896 IC
With the arrival of the bronze age, and the continued growth of the population, city-states begin to form. The first notions of class inequality begin to form, as artisans, traders and bureaucrats of the city states begin viewing themselves superior to the farmers of the surrounding villages. This results in what is known as the Great Hunger Wars. Many farmers rebel against such unequal treatment, which leads to mass starvation in a number of cities. In response, all other city states empower a new social class of warriors - the Cossacks - who's initial task is to be enforces of the city state law across the land.
Soon the Cossacks become one of the most powerful social classes, with warlords becoming localized central authorities and forming clans that unite several city states.
Around 2000 IC first contact is established with an outside civilization, with the arrival of the Elenrian Wonderers. They import their writing system to the Nishin Island, which, being more effective than the indigenous pictogram system, quickly spreads and replaces it. While it is possible to write down almost anything now, the logographic system is significantly more complex that the previous pictographic system, leading in increasing rate of illiteracy among the lower classes.
Soon the first humans begin arriving on Nishin, where their reception is mixed. The Southern clans welcome the humans to a limited extent, beginning trade and some even settle. Meanwhile the North-East largely rejects the humans, not allowing them from the docks into the cities at best, or killing them at worst. First notions of Ashinaran racial supremacy arise from these incidents, that would later lead to discrimination against racial minorities in the realm.
The concept of minted coins is also introduced, with most clans minting their own coinage, the value of which fluctuates based on the prosperity of the clan that minted the coin.
First Warring States Period, "Century of Tears", and the formation of the Ashinaran nation 1990 IC - 1890 IC
As the population in many territories began reaching it's limit in relation to the agricultural capacity of the land, many warlords started looking outward to secure more arable land for their own clan. This resulted in a century long conflict, through out which the total population on the Nishin Island is thought to decrease by roughly 1.5 million. Several clans are vanquished, while one - Clan Skoropadski - being at the center of the winning confederation of clans, becomes the central authority across the entire island, and the first Hetman - or King - is crowned. Formal beginning of a unified Ashinaran Nation.
This unification also brings an important financial reform, under which the Ashinaran coinage is unified into a single, Royally mandated currency. Over the course of several decades a lot of old coins are smelted down and reminted into the new currency.
During this period also a new native writing system, significantly simpler than the Elenrian logographic system is developed. The new alphabetical system uses glyphs for every vowel and consonant used in the Ashinaran language, which in it's structure is similar to the alphabets used by Reserian nations. While it makes the writing and reading of the Ashinaran language much easier, it unfortunately does not lead to a significant increase of literacy among lower classes, who are still largely barred from formal education.
