Recognition of Eonivelt Granted; Civil Rights Leadership Accuses Government of Distracting From Segregation Foa 1960, Issue IV
Following the recognition of Eonivelt by the Pulaski government, and the subsequent establishment of diplomatic relations between Eonivelt and Lusatia, multiple high-ranking members of EONI (the Egalitarian Organization for a National Imperative) have come out in public in protest of the action, citing that while it was a welcome change of policy within the national government, it in no way addresses the concerns of the Eoni population within Lusatia. Reverend King himself said, "While the recognition of Eonivelt has been a long time coming, the usage of the recognition as a political tool is a shameful display of what should be decisive leadership." While opinion polls have show mixed support for the recognition of Eonivelt, at 44%/42% approve/disapprove, a greater percentage of the population feels that this doesn't in any way resolve long lasting divisions in Lusatian society, with 67% of respondents feeling that the action would not placate the Civil Rights activists "at all," with another 15% feeling it would only marginally placate the activists.
Meanwhile, the nationwide year of demonstrations called for by EONI has shown no sign of slowing, and many prominent businesses in the Old City have changed their policies regarding the lunch counter services since the beginning of the year. Overall, 68% of Lusatians feel that the lunch counters should be desegregated, with 29% opposing such an action. The Pulaski government, when questioned regarding their stance towards the demonstrations, declined to comment, citing the concerns of the Eoni population as, "an issue for the Voivodeships to decide."
The Beatniks Tour Coming to Kazimierzgrad - What You Need to KnowThe incredibly popular Beatniks are coming to Kazimierzgrad as part of their nationwide tour this weekend, and are performing at two separate venues. Their first night, they'll be playing in University Park, performing some of their newer songs like "Seven Days a Week," "Eleonora Ryzby," and "I Want to Hold Your Hand," whereas the next day, in the football stadium, they'll be performing many of their old classics, instead. Tickets to each event are set at $25 and $20 per person, respectively, and it seems likely they'll sell out before the weekend, at the current rate of purchase. The band's main vocalist, Jan Lennon, will be interviewed on Channel 4 the morning of the stadium gig, so be sure to tune in at 10 AM if you want to get the details behind his song-writing expertise.
Increased Build-up in Inland Nowa Lusatia as Governor Swears Swift End to InsurgentsAs the Hashtini insurgency continues into its fourth year, Colonial Governor Ignacy Sikorski, the famed Marshal of Lusatia and Great War Hero, has sworn a swift end to the remaining insurgents. Driven from their positions in all but the smallest and most remote villages, and cut off from foreign backers, the Insurgents seem to be out of tricks. Sikorski has sworn the Insurgency, which has killed hundreds of civilians and soldiers alike in Nowa Lusatia, will be put to a quick end, and the leaders shall be tried within the full authority of the law.
Other, more pragmatic sources report that the Insurgency has been cornered like this before, only to escape and rebuild strength, though even they predict that this Insurgency shall not last much longer, and soon peace will be restored to Nowa Lusatia. The Colonial Governor has proposed integrating Nowa Lusatia as a full state upon completion of the project, as the population is increasingly supportive of such a measure, given the government's proven ability to protect the populace from rebellious threats.

Marcin King Arrested for Disturbing the Peace; Royal Advisers Report Possible Pardon Fessera 1960, Issue I
Early on the 2nd, during a normal demonstration in Miklasgrad, EONI Leader and Leader of the Civil Rights Movement, Marcin King, was suddenly arrested while leading some of the demonstrators. Prior to the arrest, the police presence in the city had been heightened. Eyewitnesses reported that though King did nothing different from his previous demonstration actions, and though the protest had been entirely peaceful up to that point, the police suddenly approached King and had him arrested. Already, there has been an upsurge in protester activity, with many people previously unaffiliated with the movement showing up to protest King's arrest.
In Parliament, the Popular Front has attacked the Prime Minister on account of the suspicious lead-up to the arrest, implying that the government intended to arrest King in an effort to try and stop the Civil Rights Movement. While the Prime Minister has refused to comment on such possibilities, he has said that he thinks King guilty of the crime in question, and that he shouldn't be pardoned, an act which royal advisers, along with some members of the cabinet, have called for, arguing that the sooner King is released, the more likely the government is to avoid violent repercussions.
The Beatniks Heading for Poniatowa, then Miklasgrad in Next in TourAfter a highly successful tour through Kazimierzgrad last weekend, where the Capital Stadium was fully packed, the Beatniks are now continuing on their nation-wide tour, with a midweek stop in Poniatowa and a weekend concert in Miklasgrad. The band's manager has expressed great thanks towards the people of Kazimierzgrad for the warm welcome, and encouraged others to buy tickets early to avoid them being sold out. Jan Lennon, meanwhile, will be appearing on behalf of the band on radio station 102.4, while the entire band will appear on national television the morning of their Miklasgrad concert.
Football Season Begins! With the start of Fessera is the start of the LFL Season! With the new season marks the expansion of the league from thirteen teams to sixteen, with a promise from the LFL commissioner of a bracketed end-season tournament consisting of all teams. New teams include the Randari Rollers, Ścinawa Miners, and the Rudomin Mountaineers. However, the overall rankings of the teams remain unchanged, with the Miklasgrad Hussars and the Rybnik Royals being ranked first and second overall by most football raters. Of particular note is Miklasgrad's quarterback, Konstantyn Kowalczyk, who led the league in touchdown passes last year, with an outstanding average of five such passes per game. Will he remain dominant throughout this season, or will another team rise to his challenge?

Minister of Interior Shot At; Prime Minister Blames "Citizen Seweryn" For Spurring Crowd to Violence Fessera 1960, Issue III
A few days after the release of Reverend Marcin King from Miklasgrad Jail, the Interior Minister was shot at by an armed Eoni in a crowd while he was giving a speech. While all the shots fired missed the Interior Minister, a singular bystander was hit and sent to Kazimierzgrad Central Hospital, where they are currently in stable condition. The assailant, Albin Kurek, was arrested on the spot, and is currently facing charges of attempted first degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and attempted manslaughter.
Though the police are still attempting to confirm Kurek's motives, Prime Minister Pulaski delivered an impromptu response to the incident when confronted by reporters. Incensed by the attack on the Interior Minister, the Prime Minister pointed at the words and threats of "Citizen Seweryn," the leader of the protesters who were at the Miklasgrad Jail when Reverend King was released, saying that the threats he had issued had stirred the pot and encouraged previously dangerous elements to take drastic action. The Prime Minister confirmed that he'd be seeking further measures to curb potential future violence, though he declined to comment on what actions he was considering.
Editorial: The Government is to Blame for the Escalation of TensionsBy A Connoisseur of Fine RugsFollowing the arrest of Reverend Marcin King, tensions have only risen in our nation. It doesn't take a genius to see that the police intervention in the demonstrations in Miklasgrad were ordered by someone higher up: normal police conduct would never have seen Reverend King behind bars. It is only natural that by attempting to silence moderates, the more radical and dangerous voices would rise to replace them. In this way, even if the Prime Minister's government didn't sanction the arrest of King, they are complicit in the rise of the radicals to the national spotlight in that they didn't intervene sooner to end King's arrest. It is my firm opinion that if the government continues its current course, it can only cause future danger for our nation, regardless of circumstances. Reverend King is the main person in the way of radicals taking over the Civil Rights Movement, and while there are well-meaning people ready to replace him if need be, they won't be the voices the nation will turn to if he is imprisoned. Heaven forbid we discover the folly of such an act, or worse.
Psycho Scares Audiences Nationwide!
Alfons Hajduk's latest cinematic masterpiece has audiences nationwide on edge, grossing nearly 32 million Złoty in the first week since its release. Notable for its more risque portrayal of both violence and sexuality, the movie is an instant classic of cinema, one guaranteed to stick with audiences well after they leave the theater. Many reviewers have praised the cast performance and Hajduk's cinematic brilliance, and in particular, actor Antonin Perkowski's role as the serial killer Norbert Bator has been singled out as one potentially worthy of an award at next year's film awards. Overall, Psycho is a highly recommended viewing, though viewers are recommended to prepare themselves for a movie unlike any they've seen before, and unlikely are ever to see the likes of, again.

Minister of the Interior Resigns After Mental Breakdown, Citing Lingering Stress From Assassination Attempt Stay 1960, Issue I
Yesterday, the Interior Minister resigned following a week-long leave, citing a diagnosis of PTSD by his physician, and a reevalution of his priorities following the attempt on his life by Albin Kurek, who just last weekend was found to be suffering from schizophrenia, and relocated to a psychiatric ward ahead of his trial. It is expected he will be sentenced to a lifetime sentence, spent at the same psychiatric ward he is currently being treated at.
Meanwhile, the week suspension of the activities of EONI has come to an end, as Reverend Marcin King announced new plans to target the railways throughout the nation, which currently segregate train cars, as well as targeting school systems in states that are lagging behind others in desegregating their districts.
Opinion Editorial: Intellectual Discourse Between Eonivelt and the Rest of the World Should Be RestoredAntonin JankowskiAs the time passes since the end of the Kingdom of Luclistan, I can't help but notice a startling amount of misinformation regarding the history of its successor, the Republic of Eonivelt. Increasingly outlandish stories that both exaggerate and understate the humanitarian crisis that was the Genocide, discussions regarding Eonivelt's government that ultimately end when information regarding the administration falls short, and misguided attempts to describe the history of a nation whose only histories are those created by the government. In short, I recommend that a reopening of academic trading of information between Lusatia and Eonivelt, with an emphasis on the trading of intellectuals, who could visit each others' nation, and learn from each other. In doing so, we may restore that missing link in the world sooner, and end cultural and political misunderstandings between our nations.
Kazimierzgrad Capitals Undefeated Entering 5th Week of Football SeasonIn a surprising turnaround from pre-season predictions, the Kazimierzgrad Capitals have gone 4-0 since the beginning of the season, owing their success in part to rookie Quarterback Jan Unitas, already being called by his teammates "The Golden Arm," in part due to his own successes mirroring Miklasgrad's Quarterback, Konstantyn Kowalczyk's, successes. When asked to comment regarding the Kazimierzgrad's quarterback's success, Kowalczyk commented, "Well, from what I've analyzed regarding the post-game transcripts, I reckon he's still beatable for a couple more years. Once he's more experienced, however, he'll be a match for me, as well."

Kazimierzgrad's Midsummer's Festival Announces Record Attendance Stay 1960, Issue II
The yearly celebration of the traditional national holiday Midsummer has reached record attendance in the Capital, with over one million residents participating, in some way, in the festivities. Even Eoni demonstrators once more ceased their demonstrations, instead choosing to celebrate the holiday with their fellow Lusatians in the festival. With multiple concerts being held throughout the city throughout the entire day, many new bands got their first exposure to the general populace.
Among one of the more intriguing new bands is The Revolving Stones, with lead singer Miklas (Mik) Jagger, offering a sound closer to R&B and Rock and Roll as opposed to other bands trying to match the Beatniks' in tone. If nothing else, their music caused them to stand out amongst all the bands at the Midsummer's Festival.
LBC Announces Plans For Prime-time Newscasts... In Color! The Capital Broadcasting System (CBS) has announced plans to begin broadcasting their prime-time newscasts in color following the channel reaching a sponsorship deal with color television manufacturer RCL (Radio Corporation of Lusatia), promising a much higher quality broadcast with individual colors on the network now being discernible. Network executives have yet to confirm whether color would be coming to all the programs on their network, though they have confirmed that they are looking into it. Rival networks like the Lusatian Broadcasting Channel (LBC) and the National Broadcasting Channel (NBC) declined to comment on whether they were considering adding colored programing, as well.
