Admiral Sam Hillingbee drank from a small cup containing tea aboard the bridge of his flagship, IGS Omerta, overlooking the massive armada following him South. He had been assigned in the great crusade to land a devastating blow to one of the largest threats to Galra's new world order, Kumosenkan.
The massive fleet was designated as the Silk Expedition fleet. In its wake it sank any Ulster-Gaelic, Lusatian or unlucky Dirian civilian shipping down the Shawbalt into the Silk Sea. The Admiral smugly grinned, his opponent would either be some weak willed child or some lower woman who belonged in a kitchen not a fleet command. He was like many Galran members of high society viewed the Kumo as some backwards hellhole ruled by women which was a concept lost to the patriarchal society of Galra. It easily sewn a viewpoint toward Ulster-Gaelia as becoming weak and frail when they lost to Kumo in the Hawaiian War (1907-1910), not due in part of Kumo's own strength but rather of Gaelic incompetence. So Admiral Hillingbee felt he would have Reito on her knees surrendering to the Imperial State by spring's eve of next year. He even mused on taking her staff as consorts, trophies to reward himself for destroying such a vile nation.
The Silk Sea plan was simple a triple entry assault to cut off Kumosenkan from Touli and press a direct assault onto Kumo waters. The three strikes into the Silk Sea would then spread out to cover open ocean and sink as many Kumo ships as possible.
The Western most task force in which a bulk of the heavy fleet, carriers and Admiral Hillingbee himself would be designated as task force victor. Their job would be isolation of Hawaii and launching massive aerial strikes on the island, sinking enemy ships from above and forcing the Kumo to reveal the open spacing in their minefields. Admiral Hillingbee believed he could starve Hawaii into submission by the Season's end.
The middle task force, task force Charlie would drive down the center with heavy ships and destroyer heavy groups to begin attacking the small atoll islands in the area. Preparing to clear a space for Galran marines once they finished taking the Shawbalt islands from UKUG and Lusatia.
The Eastern most taskforce was task force Phillip largely submarines, destroyers, minelayers and cruisers to devastate Kumo merchant shipping and force Imperial assets from the Kumo homeland westward. Here minelayers would drop mines in the major water lanes and submarines would hunt any Kumo ships coming West to attack the Galrans.
The fleet was massive and Hillingbee only had the carriers for as long as the Galran Admiralty tolerated him to have them, he knew eventually they would want them pulled elsewhere but for now the largest aerial assault by the sea was to be his. 216 carrier bombers escorted by 200 carrier fighters flooded the morning sky and flew to Hawaii from the safest distance possible for the carrier group as the heavy fleet moved into position to lure Kumo ships into the minefield opening. The aircraft would attack anything that resembled a ship, military mainly and if they ran out of targets they were to attack civilian targets to sow discord on the islands.
