With Flatrood fallen, Marrish command knew that while the Grinnish momentum was slowed, it was returning. Nellrae, a large cultural center, was next. They projected Harbaville would soon follow. With reports via telegram streaming in all across the line of Grinvelian air power going uncontested, an officer had an idea. The EAP-24 (Embedded Autocannon Platform). An older but still useful autocannon design. If the planes were going to harry them and rifles just wouldn't do, why not use a cannon with longer range and such a high rate of fire to counter this? Plans were made to make edits to the design to be more suitable for anti aircraft purposes, and fix old hangups and quirks that were detrimental to its use. Regardless of whether or not those revisions were ready, batteries would be placed on many a rooftop in Harbaville. Fortifications would be constructed on the city limits, slowly transforming the once open and welcoming capital in to a fortress where they would make their stand. Anti Aircraft battery construction in Harbaville, 4 Advanced forts surrounding the capital, 1 Advanced Fort inside the capital, 1 airfield in the city.

The city's outskirts slowly changed from their original natural majesty to a hellscape for any would-be invader. Moats of muddy water, barbed wire, mines, pit traps, and other horrors were being created. Walls slowly grew around the capital as its denizens dug in. Refugees from Flatrood would slowly stream in as what few trains that could be diverted made their way home. Marrish workers converting city outskirts into fortifications.

As the war drew ever closer, efforts intensified. Word of Nellrae being sieged made worker's spirits dampen, but their anger soar. The outskirts had been fully armored. Houses became bunkers with both concrete barriers and sandbags fortifying them. Pom Pom positions in concrete bases were placed on roofs to fire down onto would be attackers, and potentially engage aircraft if they were lucky enough to hit them. DIY machine gun quad mounts were put on the backs of trucks and on roofs to further assist in this dual purpose role. Dugouts and basements were expanded and reinforced to give civilians and military personnel alike shelter from bombers and artillery. The capital building itself had become a fortress. A simple abode with the nations flags draped on its front and sides, with the seal proudly hosted below the colors on a pole. Sandbags surrounded it and servicemembers walked its grounds in a blur of constant activity. Pionaire Kershaw leaned on a table within the building's war room as she and other generals in MHC studied the war's progress. A constant stream of information sounded off in the next room with telegraph lines abuzz with reinforcement requests, recon updates, allied movements, and other pertinent information. Citizens went about their days and tried to keep relative normalcy, but with the city quickly becoming a modern variety of medieval keep it was hard. Militia drilled with Army and Marine forces daily to keep in shape and ready themselves. Patrols into the woods and what few hills surrounded the beacon of Marrish liberty were frequent, scanning for any Grinnish invaders who had slipped past the line. The people of Harbaville would continue to dig in as the line pushed ever closer.
Further fortification of capital, anti aircraft battery construction, civilian building fortification, air raid bunkers and dugout construction.
