Ashinara is a multi-racial country, with several sentient species, each native to a different island in the Ashinaran archipelago.
Ashin
The Ashins are indigenous to Nishin, the largest island in the Ashinaran archipelago. They are the ones who formed the Ashinaran nation several thousand years ago, and have dominated the region since. All the other islands in the archipelago have been conquered by the Ashins, expanding the borders of Ashinara - with most of the races living on the other islands being integrated into the Ashinaran culture. To this day, however, the Ashins comprise most of Ashinara's ruling class, headed by the Royal Family, who have ruled as a single dynasty since roughly 1850 IC.
Average Lifespan: 55 years
Diet: Omnivorous, capable of safely consuming raw meat. Culturally, their diet consists mostly of rice, pork, lamb, goat, chicken, vegetables, fruits and a large variety of seafood.
Preferred Living Conditions: Hot tropical climate. Not used to the cold, requiring extensive layering of warm clothes to feel comfortable in regions that experience freezing temperatures and snowfall.
Eye colors: black, brown, dark blue, light blue, dark green, light green, red.
Hair colors: Orange, black, brown, white/silver
Fur colors: Orange, black, brown, white/silver
Skin color: Black, dark brown. Not covered by fur only on palms of hands, soles of feet.
Height range: 145 cm - 165 cm
Notes: Their overall features place them somewhere in between Demi-humans and Far-Humans. Like Far-Humans they have body-wide fur coverage, claws instead of nails and animalistic nose tips, however closer to Demi-Humans, they have flat human-like faces, human-shaped irises and plantigrade feet.
Eyrian
Native to the Eyrie island, they are the largest minority of Ashinara. On all of the Ashinaran islands, they look the most similar to humans, with only their pointed ears giving them away. Thanks to their status as a rather sizable minority, they've been able to establish themselves as near equals to the Ashins in the Ashinaran society, preserving most of their culture, mixing it with the Ashin culture, rather than integrating entirely. They have long been on the forefront of advocating for equal rights for all races in Ashinara, culminating in the creation of the Eyrie Autonomous Republic in the year 1934 - although only on half of their native island.
