Marrlan continued to hold the flanks as best as they could. Grenadiers and signalmen used their launchers to call for fire on distant positions while they continued to hold the line, and artillery and ships would answer in turn. Marrish bombers would again attempt attacks on enemy positions as fighters continued to run around the clock. The rising fumes carried a sinking sense of dread as they fought on, not entirely sure of the status of the men and women within as they fought to keep them form being encircled. Marrish medium tanks have moved on to actively hunting enemy armor, their high velocity 60mm guns and impressive APCS (Armor Piercing Cup Sabot) would prove invaluable.
Units in the city moved what wounded they could away before the coming storm, Beast Hunter units that hosted flamethrower and in particular thermite gel specialists. The fruit of the Wickerman project was further spread across the city defenders forces in the form of White phosphorus grenades being handed out. Where before they had been withheld for the right moment, even with special rules in place, they had been tossed aside. When Grinvel entered the city they would meet literal Greek fire. Further traps were laid in the previously created trap houses and spread to others. Incendiary explosives were placed along with the usual traps and mines were placed in alley's to further funnel troops through sections into killzones. Heavy machine guns blanket replaced any older .30-06 for maximum lethality potential and light anti-armor purposes.
Half the naval forces in the port shifted to giving fire support to the flank defending forces, the Super cruisers remained supporting the city itself.

Grinvel Reich troops entered the Northern sections of Harbaville with an assortment of armored vehicle support and fireteams with varied small arms that engaged, to their shock, enemy resistance. The Marrish firewall delayed the Grinvelians for a moment but would be bypassed with ease as Grinvelian medium and heavy tanks began to join in the push into the city. Pressing the Marrish and their allies harshly into the center of the city. Fortifications found in the city were targeted directly by heavy infantry and armored units as light infantry units and armored cars/tankettes moved to cut off streets connected to them. Mueller was amused by the continued resistance even after the massive gas attack. Grinvel had more stores of chlorine gas but Mueller wanted to retain them for another time. For now Grinvelian aircraft were refueled and ordered to attack the bay once more to stop the enemy warships providing long range artillery support. Out in the country side the Grinvelians implemented more mortar support for their infantry to push CN forces in their efforts to surround the capital. Their heavier armor compared to Marrlan and Ulster-Gaelia gave them a huge advantage out in the open and allowed them to collapse Gaelic defense lines in the East. Pushing the battered Gaelic expedition force into the city to defend the southern dock area with what they had left. Grinvel enters Harbaville UKUG Fogham lost 13,000 men in mere hours to a massive gas attack, crippling his forces within Harbaville and leaving him no choice but to withdraw Southwards. What was left of the Gaelic armor would be pulled back as they relayed over to the Marrish their desperate need for artillery support. Gaelic infantry began packing up and falling back against harsh Grinvelian assaults and sustained more casualties as fire teams tried to buy time.
The winter cold didn't help things, many Gaelic soldiers would have to face the brutal Reserian cold out of their foxholes and trenches as they withdrew to the Southern area.

Being knowledgeable in motorized warfare themselves, Nevarra set up what they could in order to counter Grinvel encroachments into the city proper. Plans were consulted with Marrish command regarding the sacrifice of some infrastructure to corner, ambush, and/or halt the advancement of Grinvels' mechanized divisions and armor. Treating Harbaville like a labyrinth and looking to adjust the halls and corridors that they all found themselves in. Rudimentary traps were set up, what mines were available were deployed and roosts were established with AT-Rifles and munitions targeting what landcraft they can if not wholly destroying then with a focus on severely damaging their equipment.
When it came to the Reich pushing infantry to the front, Nevarra responded by taking the brunt of the assault so that the Marrish could better focus on defending and deploying their heavy guns and equipment. Cyclists and Dragoon's maneuvered around the city to harass Grinvel contingents often through "ride-by" tactics in order hurl smoke and explosives to disorient while gunfire reigned from further away.

The Gaelic forces would get the support they needed ASAP, peppering the marked zones with HE and smoke to obscure their allies retreat. Marrish forces on the front would pull some of their forces off to escort them and assure their casualties made it out. One of the super cruisers even adjusted fire to support them, and Marrish bombers harried enemy forces as they pulled out.
The Marrish forces would agree with the Nevarran plan, pulling back form some of their defenses after booby trapping them and further increasing the density of their forces in the more defined defenses. Though some staff would trade worried glances at the idea of giving ground, especially on the path to the capital building. Flamethrower Beast Hunters and Thermite Gel Specialists were prepped and then unleashed when the time was right and the Grinvelian advance reached optimal killzones made within the city. Marrish heavy armor dug in and the ends of streets, giving them long killzones with little area for the enemy to flank and remove the threat. The medium tanks and tankettes continued to move around as QRF and support different areas of defense allowing much more flexibility and ease of rapid response to effected sections.
Then they let loose.
Marrish Wickerman units burned Grinvelian area with impunity, setting entire sectors ablaze as the light of tracers quickly followed streams of flame and gel. Enemy armor was accosted by these units, particularly those quipped with Pitcher Joe launchers, firing the Thermite Gel grenades onto their hulls where they stuck and ignited eating through the armor in an inextinguishable flame. The weakened armor and lighter vehicles were subsequently engaged by streams of .50 cal fire, field guns pushed into direct fire roles, and HE grenades laucnhed from other Pitcher Joe launchers. Beast Hunters held the line as other Marrish infantry bolstered them like bulwarks against the storm of men and steel. An almost constant stream of fire erupted form the Marrish line as water buckets for dunking barrels started to become a common sight as even riflemen had to start taking breaks to cool their weapons from the sheer amount of lead exchanging. AT rifleman posted in buildings and high rises fired down into the more lightly armored roofs of their targets, maximizing their lethality as they fired into crew compartments and engine decks immobilizing armor then killing its crew while they were trapped inside. Marine shotgunners would enter the sewer system and lie in wait for Grinvel formations to pass over them before popping out, engaging, then retreating back into the system. Defenses were made at controlled entry points incase the Huns decided to follow them into the labyrinth of foul smelling tunnels.
Marrish armored cars and remaining bicycle infantry would assist Nevarran 'drive-by' tactics
Marrish walkers that had been garrisoned within the city began movements along the streets and rubble, completely unimpeded by otherwise impassible terrain for traditional, vehicles hiding behind the rubble of large buildings or structures before continuing on their way. The walkers would begin probing attacks and scouting of enemy positions from as many angles as possible, intending to engage armor in particular and strike them in their much more vulnerable rear or side armor from wide alley's or building and garages that were overlooked. Marines would support them as best they could as they harrassed the enemy and melted away into the city's fog of war.
The Marrish airforce continued their duty's the guard dogs in the sky following their previous orders from the last air raid. AA batteries in the city once again began their rapid song of thumps as enemy air units once again reared their ugly heads. Troops posted on roofs would participate in volley fire especially those with .50 cal machine guns to attempt to knock out further aircraft. The Navy in the bay spaced themselves out to better protect themselves from the enemy aircraft should they get through. While not equipped with any AA batteries, anti piracy machine gunners would open up at the enemy aircraft and secondary's would attempt to engage the on coming wave of planes.
Once Gaelic forces were safe, a complete bombardment of every known Grinvelian position commenced. No expense was spared and everything was thrown at them.

GrinvelThe Marrish use of extensive fire to stop troop advancements saw the increased use of mortars, grenades and heavy armored units to taking blocs in the Northern city. Infantry took slow and steady measures, using cover and using grenades to clear rooms before entering. As for the sewer assaults attacking areas where the Grinvelians were already advanced over, strike teams with shotguns and sub machine guns would be sent into the Marrish sewers to counter these units creating a new separate front in the Harbaville campaign. Grinvel began tearing down large sections of city buildings to clear out and make room for large tanks to move in, the northern section of the city was now a mass of rising pillars of smoke and thunderous gunfire as Grinvel began to push deeper toward the Pionare house. In the countryside the Grinvelians were stalled by heavy artillery rounds finally stopping them for the first time since the gas attack, Grinvel would have to regroup and reapply their assault in earnest once their troops recovered what was left from the shelling. Grinvel troops assaulting Harborville AbwasserkanalGrinvel began flooding the Marrish sewers with fireteams armed with shotguns and submachine guns. Headlamps from engineer groups were strapped to the helmets of soldiers entering the dark and wet tunnels under the Marrish capital where a deadly game of cat and mouse. The horror game of stumbling upon enemy patrols and the sudden violent burst of gunfire would shock and traumatize the soldiers sent underneath. The BayGrinvelian aircraft once again strike the bay with devastating power as several A-5 CAS fighters began sinking two more Marrish ships and disabled another. But Marrish fighters and anti air would take down several Grinvelian fighters. UKUGGaelic soldiers successfully retreated to the harbor area of the city, placing 30 caliber machine guns and the last of their tanks to prepare against the Grinvelian assault. "This is it lads! We stand here, we die here! Because if we fall they take the docks! Don't let that happen!" Fogham was desperate, ordering all troops to prepare grenades, extra armaments and to hold at all costs their defensive positions. The Grinvelian strike in the Bay would be easily observed as Fogham saw the Marrish fleet take more losses to the Grinvelian airforce. "Shit, we're gonna lose our artillery support soon." He needed to make this count. Gaelic troops preparing their last stand at Harbaville

The City: Marrish forces would continue to slowly pull deeper into the city leaving traps in the positions as they went as usual, this time including some rigged guns set to shoot doors or windows when wires were tripped. They would once again hold a firm line as the Nevarrans continued to harrass the enemy and delay them. Marrish submachine gunners continued to try and match their foes in CQC. Grenadiers lobbed grenades in response by hand and assisted by launchers as the exchange of explosives droned on. Marrish forces would share AT rifles with the Nevarran and Gaelic troops to better assist each other, as well as semi automatic rifles and Chatterbox compact machine guns. Incendiary teams continued to work overtime to deny the enemy avenues of movement, and harassment groups continued to roam with Ostrich recon and raid teams to ambush or otherwise disrupt rubble clearing groups. Enemy armor was similarly focused on and ambushed where possible. Medium tanks and Tankettes would continue their previous duties to the best of their ability. A Marrish infantryman and his father, a veteran of the border war, bundle up in a makeshift bunker taking what little rest they can. Many parents who served previously who refused to leave the city and donned their uniforms once more when the militia call was put out, or had already rejoined prior and been retrained, and soon found their children serving alongside them. A small comfort in a sea of despair. The Flanks: Forces continued to hold and continue their previous tactics, holding in place and digging in as the heavy armor acted as gun emplacements and medium tanks, armored cars, and tankettes ran QRF duties. Infantry began to dig smaller slit trenches rather then the larger scale trenches that were typical of Marrish tactics to reduce the size of the protective but semi blatant target. They also began to camouflage their positions by covering dirt with grass and shrubbery. For all intense and purposes, morale was higher than usual here. Having actually held off the enemy advance, some troops were rotated off the line for some rest and a small exhausted celebration. A Marrish machine gun team on the flanks in their much smaller fighting positions. Taking lessons from a radical General Willhelm in Roskana, they are using smaller slit trenches and camouflaging them in response to Grinvel air recon, CAS, and to better protect them from forward observers prying eyes. In the Sewers: Marrish Marines fought with tenacity and very literal fire. Beast hunters soon joined the fray armed with their Imolators and hip firing machine guns as they walked on. Burning and riddling everything in their path. The enhanced vision of the Rel, the night adapted eyesight of the minority of Anguis, coupled with the Shazzak's poor eyesight but acute electromagnetic sense proved a worthy adversary. The dark environment only partially hindered Marrish forces as the human service members relied on their counterparts, lights, flame, and muzzle flash. They would begin to push against the Grinvelian incursions and continue to raid their lines where possible before pulling back slightly to goad them into committing more men. Marines and Beast Hunters would slink through the dark and even lie motionless in the water waiting for Grinvelian forces to pass before emerging and ambushing patrols. Shazzak Beast Hunters proved to be especially ruthless in their fighting, the images of their comrades literally melting around them burned into their minds, they wished to inflict a similar pain onto any Grinvish soldier they found. Any attempts at surrender to these Beast Hunter 'kill teams' were simply met with executions. The Bay: 2 Destroyers were struck by bombs and began to list as their bridge and engine crews made one final attempt to move their vessels out of the way before abandoning ship. The sailors would be redeployed elsewhere into friendly lines or if willing joined the fight in the city. The Heavy Cruiser "Snallyghaster" was struck and disabled, but not destroyed. A tow vessel was quickly called and assisted it in limping away to the harbors in East Shore for repairs. The Air: Marrish air units continued to harry the Grinvish air units and persued them partially as they waived off. Marrish bombers started to hit enemy forces on the flanks to further delay and destroy enemy forces on the flanks. Recon aircraft scouted positions in the city and flanks, and pointed them out with flares or with reports once they landed which were then relayed to the navy and artillery. Absolute hell rained down upon Grinvish positions and formations as they were dialed in and bombarded.

The remaining rangers were divided into two halves, of the 800~ remaining 600 continued to field in the city engaging in close-quarters combat as well as joining the Marrish beast hunters in sub-surface warfare in the sewers and securing access points that Marrlan, UKUG, and Nevarra can use to move quickly and undetected underneath the city. Meanwhile those that were not engaged in sub-surface warfare instead continued to establish roosts and ambush points, given access to AT equipment by Marrlan in order to strip enemy armor while mobile infantry continued to circle and harass in order to draw attention away from these vantage points and split Grinvel's focus.
The last 200 Rangers not currently engaged were routed further into Harbaville under orders of Aros to aid in protecting the Pionare and the Senate should advances further into the city not be halted.
Additionally, the Nevarra Coast Guard did not boast the most powerful munitions but a request was sent out by General Aros given the desperate circumstances facing Harbaville. 10 Corvettes and 1 Frigate bounded across the bay into Marrish waters and were queued to have anti-air platforms bolted to their decks and to provide what aid they could in alleviating Grinvel pressure by providing what suppression they could.

"OH SCHIEBBE!" A Grinvelian soldier screamed before his head was turned into ground meat following a beast hunter firing down a sewer tunnel, the Marrish and Nevarran forces utterly clapped the Grinvel forces entering the sewer. One of the Beast hunters walking forward with a heavy machine gun opening fire at unfortunate Grinvelian troops. As they walked down the dark and now corpse filled tunnel they would quote a verse from the text of Shurpis the war god of the Marrish religion. "I rule the midnight air, the destroyer. Soon I shall be there to all, Deadly mass. Blood all through the halls, the deathly hour. BLOOD, Blood painted doors and I shall pass." Nevarran rangers took shots breaking back any Grinvelians trying to poke out of their cover. The sewers were falling, so Grinvel had a card to play, arming the tunnels they hadn't lost with explosives and setting them off sealing the sewers off from their lines and flooding the rest sending a massive wave of destruction in Northern Harbaville. On the surface Grinvel continued their relentless assault onto the CN forces to take the center of the city, namely they were now a few miles from the Pionare house a major target Mueller wanted to take soon. Another wing of CAS bombers and fighters were being prepared to hit the bay once again to stop the Marrish fleet from providing long range artillery support. With the UKUG falling back the Grinvelian forces prepared a major assault on the dock area to break through the Gaelics and seize the docks. The Western flank was pressed again with a new force of 30,000 standard troops and 100 light tanks to break the Western flank once and for all. Grinvelian fighters were forced to scramble and intercept enemy fighters and aircraft as Marrlan began to zero in on Grinvelian front line troops near the city. Grinvel soldiers in wintery Harbaville UKUGThe Gaelics had dug their heels in deep by the Southern edge of the city when Grinvelian troops arrived, erupting a large firefight between the sides as Grinvel pushed to take the docks and use the breakthrough to encircle the Marrish and Nevarran forces in Harbaville. Gaelic forces under General Fogham had received one order, "Stand and fight" no offer to retreat or cave in. Requests for Marrish artillery support came in as Grinvelian armored units began to push against the Gaelic lines, what remained of the Gaelic armored units shored up the line firing and buying valuable time. For now, the Gaelic lines held against a brutal onslaught but it wouldn't last without more support. Fogham and the Gaelic Marrish Expedition makes its last stand

The flanks: 10,000 Militia, 500 Beast Hunters, 10 landships, 100 Walkers, 1,000 Heavy Infantry, and 4,000 Standard Infantry were pulled form the center to reinforce the Gaelic line. Fogham would not be dying today. Marrish forces would directly integrate with Gaelic positions and reinforce their own as the mass of infantry and light armor flowed from the city to the dock's defense. With enemy forces practically in visual range, the Marrish fleet opened up with exceptional accuracy at the targets they could now see. The deafening chorus of Marrish naval power now focused almost entirely on the forces within view, decimating anything they saw opposing the infantry ashore. Gaelic requests for artillery were swiftly acted upon, leveling anything they deemed a priority. One final ace in the hole was deployed. originally intended to be held back for one final surprise, both the children of the Valkyrie project were unleashed. Battle trains armed tot he teeth with autocannons, turreted guns, and space for troops to board and dismount were deployed to assist the Gaelic line. Both engines engaged enemy armor and infantry alike in an awesome display of firepower from auto canons and cannons. Roof mounted auto cannons would also engage any enemy aircraft that passed by them.
The Beast Hunters from the sewers, and some from the city(1,500), were redeployed into the waters South of Harbaville to begin a stealthy march to flank around Grinvel reinforced by 8,000 Heavy Infantry, what remained of the Shazzak within the Army and Rel service members were pulled and sent to ambush them in the dead of night. This was expressed to Nevarran units in a bid to outflank the flanking forces of Grinvel.
The Western flank did not receive such intense support, 5,000 Militia, 2,000 Heavy Infantry, 20 Walkers, and 20 landships were all that could be mustered assist. Marrish troops began liberal use of incendiary weapons, particularly white phosphorus grenades, against enemy infantry. Enemy tanks would be harried by near constant pelting of thermite grenades and cannon fire from Marrish armor. They dug in, consolidated their numbers, and held on to everything they could.
The City: Further scorched earth tactics were used to hold the Grinvel advance. Traps made from thermite grenades would eat away at a building foundation ahead of enemy forces moving past taller structures only for them to suddenly collapse with no warning or explosive indication onto them. Entire blocks burned to deny the enemy the ability to move through, touching any infantry who thought they could brave the flames and cooking tank crews who thought their vehicle would protect them alive. All previous orders to hold fortifications were upheld until a position was deemed entirely inoperable or indefensible. Every inch Grinvel gained was paid for dearly. Maneuver elements on bicycles, working with walkers, or marines who had assaulted through the sewers would continue their work, though now the sewers remained unusable resources beyond Marrish lines for movement they still proved quite useful. Artillery continued to close in and destroy enemy artillery emplacements and other units not directly engaged in the city as they split their attention between reports from recon flights and calls for fire within the concrete jungle.
The Sewer: With the echoes of explosions resounding in the tunnels, what gates could be closed were sealed as the tidal wave of rubble shit and water was directed out of the city into grates and dump pipes that lead into the bay. Marrish forces would continue to use the tunnels for unseen movement behind their lines, and any ground Grinvel had taken that had yet to be sealed off had troops waiting to spring out and attack them when the time was right. The majority of the Beast Hunters would return to the surface leaving Heavy Infantry behind with a few of their number. They would ask their Ranger counterparts to follow.
The Skies: Marrish bombing raids would continue on elements in the city and behind the Grinnish line until it was entirely unsafe for the CAS elements to operate, CAP efforts ran around the clock to keep Grinnish elements at bay and disrupt their own bombing efforts. A flight of recon aircraft once again armed with rifles and machine guns would supplement the dedicated fighters in holding the enemy bombers away from the ships in the harbor as AA positions continued to work over time, the water jackets on the Pom Poms actively beginning to sound more like boiling teapots. Nevarran Coast guard unites would be quickly serviced with the ad-hoc upgrade package and directed to assist the fleet ASAP as the roar of foreign planes grew louder.

Ranger divisions that were in the sewers would join the beast hunters as they departed, additionally some of Nevarra's infantry would be pulled from harassing Grinvel to patrolling and defending access points into and around the sewer whenever opportune. The Rangers that moved from the sewers would now lead small teams of standard infantry navigating the city in order to get in a position to flank Grinvel. As night took over the city and the assault continued on Gaelia's position, working with Marrish Command as the Beast Hunters moved through the water to come on Grinvel's flank, Rangers that were not stationed with the Pionare and VIP protection would move with unoccupied Standard Infantry regiments to get on the "dry" flank of Grinvel.
A mixture of overland and subterranean travel, the Ranger-Teams would move to occupy abandoned buildings and ruined structures with eyes on Grinvel's position. Using urban debris, the Nevarrans entrenched themselves on the far side of where Marrish divisions presumably were beginning to dig in while facing down Grinvel in-between. Once they were in position a clock began to countdown, an estimated safe period to make sure that both sides were in position and ready. Once it had counted down completely a red flare was lit and shot into the air, signaling Marrlan's flank that Nevarra was ready and was beginning their assault. Long rifles looked out over and began to fire on Grinvel's position.

Grinvel The defenses of Marrlan and her allies did little to deter the Grinvelians, a surge was made to break through sending Grinvelian infantry and armored units forward. Marrlan intended to make Grinvel pay for every inch taken, but the Grinvelians would make the Marrish pay an equal price in holding their capital. Vicious engagements across the city made for a dark wintery day in Harborville as heavy losses on both sides would be inflicted with Grinvelian troops sent in a do or die assault. As the attack went on the Pionare house was now receiving stray bullet shots as the bloc nearby became a bloody warzone. Despite the brutal fighting, Grinvel had troops to replenish the assault and kept sending in troops to replace the ones lost. Their militant culture made it hard for many of them to really take in what was happening, as hundreds died in crowded streets of corpses and fallen rubble. As with Roskana the best advances were made with the help of mechanized units and armored units. Grinvel infantryman facing the literal fires of hell in Harbaville UKUGAfter several hours assaulting the Western line, the Grinvelians pulled back, the reinforcements and naval strikes blunted their assault leaving the combined forces of UKUG, Marrlan and Nevarra to hold. But Grinvel wasn't finished, Mueller sent a man waving a white flag to deliver a message to General Fogham, Fogham sent Lieutenant Henry Dale to speak with the messenger. The messenger a Grinvelian soldier nodded respectfully to Dale, "Field Marshall Mueller commends you Gaelics and admires your devotion to fight this battle. But wishes to extend mercy to you. Surrender and you will be treated well, all your men will be sent home to your families once the war and fighting is done. He swears it." Dale huffed, "Does he?" The Grinvelian soldier kept his calm, holding the white flag noticing all the eyes watching him behind Dale. "My General sent me here to respond, regardless of what you had to say. Because...well...shit he was right on what he thought this would be. So...shit...tell me laddie...you got families? Families in Grinvel?" The soldier now appeared confused, "Ja, we do." "And you and these kinsmen, get together for occasions?" "Ja, as I am sure yours do. We wish for you to see your families so please adhere to Field Marshall-" Dale raised his hand, "Sorry you mistaken what i'm saying." Dale continued, "All you lads, and you tell'em, if you lads come err again. We shall arrange...for all your families a proper gatherin in black fer all ye when we send you home instead." The soldier felt an utter cold chill run down his spine. "Now go fuckin' tell yer cunt Field Marshall what I said, I'll stack all the men he send me way as sandbags and proper monument to his fuckin cunt rye arse cause even the spindlers didn't try this sordid pussy shite." Dale turned around back to his men as they whistled and cheered, the Grinvelian soldier speechless returned. Fighting continued, the Grinvelians assaulted the line breaking at the combined arms of three nations. Reaching the docks would be harder than Mueller thought, so his attention would turn to another target. The Pionare House. Mad Lad Lieutenant Henry Dale
