Yeeda was the most powerful man in Southern Tafatu, the government had fled to Pareau seeking shelter with the Frannerri, the people of Tafatu were either struggling to feed and shelter themselves in the South or struggling to shelter and feed themselves under a brutal military occupation in the North. 

Yeeda needed to act, to liberate his new homeland. But even with 245,000 free men to command they all needed guns and ammo to fight for one, and another crossing the mountains was just not possible. Crossing into the Union would most definitely start another war with the UST. So the only other way to try and march on the enemy was negotiating an agreement with Eleria. Yeeda sent word to the Imperator and Imperatrix on wanting the rights to cross Eleria, access to firearms and ammunition and in return the Elerians gained the remnants of the Tafatu Republican Army.

    I fear I may not be understanding precisely what it is you're asking. Am I to believe that you and your men wish to enlist in the Imperial Army despite your foreign citizenship? Or perhaps you're looking to act as a sort of expeditionary force? Please advise me as to what you'd like to work out between us. Skilled men are always needed, but I want to ensure that we've each got a solid understanding about what happens here. Thank you for taking the time to write. I'll be awaiting your reply.

A return letter addressed to the Imperatrix explained that the Tafatu sought to be an expedition force in the Great War fighting for Eleria initially in return for guns, ammo and supplies to eventually march on their occupied homeland. Yeeda requested to personally meet with the Elerian government to lay out his plans.
