After a long winter of each side licking their own wounds where not much activity occurred on the front, the spring thaw brought some limited activity to the frontlines. The heavy rains meant that offensives were largely just probing attacks, and most of this activity came from the Galrans, given their general assumption that they still maintained some initiative on the front.
The Lusatians and Gaelic forces, meanwhile, focused their probes away from the planned location of their summer offensive, attempting to lure Galran planners into fortifying and reinforcing the wrong sections of the line. All the while, artillery and support planes were moved into position, while Lusatian forces in front of MÅ‚awa saw themselves reequipped with semi-automatic rifles (freshly in production since the winter prior) and their artillery laden with gas canisters.
All-in-all, the Entente forces mustered about 750,000 men (about 500,000 Lusatians and 250,000 Gaelians) for the offense along the coastal plain that would take place in the early summer, once the ground was solidified.
Against them in that section of the front was a force of about 700,000 Galrans, gradually recovering from the defeat the year prior and looking for revenge.
