In preparation for the coming years of the war, Lusatian research was spread out between several developments. Of particular note:
I) Self-Propelled Anti-Tank Guns [PROJECT STEELFELL]
-- Utilizing manufacturing advances in recent years, Lusatian automotive makers have been tasked with creating heavily armored and robust tank destroyers. The gun's design was based off of common field gun designs, but made to be able to fire larger, heavier armor-piercing shells. These shells would also have to be redesigned utilizing new chemical mixtures in an attempt to increase explosive and piercing power. The goal was to make something capable of piercing current Galran tank and walker designs... and then some.
II) Mustard Gas and Gas Protection [PROJECT MORNINGWIND]
-- The government tasks Western Chemicals with the continued development of chemical weapons, seeking to find harder to defend against compounds and mixtures to destroy the Galran infantry. Noting that the chemicals would also be more dangerous to their own people, the company was also tasked with finding neutralizing mixtures that could be used in a mask to defend Lusatian soldiers should the chemical be blown by the wind back at them.
III) Napalm [PROJECT FIREBIRD]
-- As part of a project to develop powerful weaponry that might also demoralize Galran forces, an idea to use leftover petroleum products with a jelling agent as an incendiary weapon came about. Lusatian oil companies would take on the project, testing different artificial compounds to see what worked best to make the resultant fire stick, as well as what burned hottest and longest. The project would advance slowly due to be a lower priority.
IV) Synthetic Oil and Rubber [PROJECT GASTANK]
-- As a supplement to Project Firebird, aware that Diria's oil supply might continue to be hard to access in the coming months, efforts were made to acquire a synthetic alternative to oil utilizing coal. This project was given a high priority just due to sheer amount of oil demanded by the Lusatian economy. Similarly, rubber, which was used for tires for all kinds of vehicles, was also desperately needed, and means of acquiring synthetic alternatives were sought.
V) Anti-tank Guns for Strike Planes [PROJECT SKYHIGH]
-- With one anti-tank gun already being designed, plans to branch its development into a version that could be fit onto existing aircraft, replacing imprecise bombs. Means of redistributing the force of the guns fire to prevent them from damaging the aircraft they were on was the highest priority for the project.
