From the earliest of the inselni clans to the age of steam and steel, Elenria has seen eons of history pass by with great calculating patience. Its ancient walled cities and countless ruins that dot its landscape are pockmarked with the scars of strife and conflict, contrasted by the fresh scaffolds of the modern inhabitants who pick up the legacy of countless past generations, dusting off the door knockers and repairing breaches. The legacy of Elenria has been one of isolated peace and reasonable prosperity, connections to the outside maintained by the Expeditions of the Convent of the Paths. But in the wake of a devastating civil war and the death of Queen Akel I with an underage heir, the Elenria was left helpless and afraid when Kumo warships arrived in 1860 and annexed the state. In exchange for limited autonomy at the price of sovereignty, Elenria surrendered its pride and kneeled before the spider, hoping that its patience would pay off once more.
If there is one thing Elenrians are not, then gambling is certainly a poor choice of profession. Yet Elenria under Kumosenkan, known as TAKPOE, huddled behind the figure of the spider in the shadow of the modern world is playing a dangerous game of dice. Either the spiders will help propel Elenria to a new era of prosperity, or Elenria is doomed to the sticky strands of the web for bitter centuries to come. One thing is certain though- Patience is a virtue, and the Elenrians are very good at waiting.
