The Soviet Armed Forces
The military arm of the USSR, responsible for the defense of Soviet territory, infrastructure and people, as well as the growth of the nation's territory.

Soviet Army

 The Centerpiece military organization responsible for most land based combat operations, equipped for combat in a variety of terrains and environments. While primarily suited for valley combat and for mountain assaults, they can perform limited amphibious combat operations, and have their own aviation corps. Their primary operational goals are the defense of the Motherland, and expansion of its territory, alongside protection of infrastructure and civilians.

Soviet Air Force

 The Main body of air power projection of the Soviet military, the Soviet Air Force's primary two missions are the support of the USSR's ground forces, and the defense of the Motherland and its airspace. With dedicated ground support craft and their large air wings of dedicated air fighters. They also maintain a large bomber force.

Soviet Navy
The Soviet Navy is the primary naval force of the USSR, and serves as the primary defensive and offensive force in the oceans around the USSR. It's primarily focused around the support of amphibious landings and for attaining and maintaining naval supremacy to enforce blockades and such. It has some air power. 

Soviet Marines
The Soviet Marines are the first force in, last one out of which is primarily escorted by the navy, but can act on the ground just fine, typically being the most heavily armed and supported but having the smallest numbers and hence being used primarily as the first wave, and not the lone fighting force during an invasion. Their primary operational goals are to destroy hostile blockades, supplies, disrupt supply lines and outright obliterate enemy lines during the opening stages of an attack.

Soviet Border Forces
A branch that primarily encompasses the border guard, and acts as support for the Marines if they are able to/close enough to provide it, and generally handle dealing with Illegal immigrants and such. Like ICE, but with BMPs.

Soviet Strategic Rocket Forces
Forces charged with the operation of strategic Rocket launch sights and bases, as well as mobile launchers. Not the same as tactical Artillery, and is considered more a subdivision of the Air Force.

The Soviet Army and Marines

Soviet Armor

The centerpiece of the Soviet Army, while much of their terrain is naturally mountainous, there are large areas of relatively flat ground of which tanks can easily navigate, including corridors where the mountains are wide enough apart to allow for the passage of enemy vehicles, requiring that there be more simply more than artillery and light vehicles to stop an advance through these passages. As well, the Soviet Army and Marines are geared to offense more than they are strictly defense, meaning their focus is naturally on the use of heavy and medium armor in conjunction with infantry and light armor formations to break enemy lines. The primary focus of the soviet army is a quantity-quality mixture, where they produce moderate quality vehicles for a decent price to the worker corporations and generally employ them in numbers to make up for short comings such as weak armor, slow rate of fire, and so on.

Primarily using oil as their fuel source, the conventional combustion engine never went out of style in Rovuellia due to the nations isolation and frankly bloody history, requiring that this relatively easily accessed resource of Oil be used more than Staol, of which is primarily used in civilian roles such as logistics, civilian transportation and so on. While not as clean as Staol, Oil does the trick and is by far more useful in the eyes of the Soviets than the much more limited Staol.

Soviet Light Armored Vehicles

Modern Scout Car - BDRM-1 (Other variants are classified as 2,3, so on)

A modern scout car primarily used in the role of, well, scouting. It's secondary use is as a armored transport for infantry, of which would typically act alongside the PT-76 and other armored vehicles to provide anti-infantry and anti-LAV support. It's primary armament is a machine gun, though some variations sometimes have either no weapons, or may have a rocket launcher or even in some special, very special cases, an Anti-armor gun. Some as well have directed mortars as well. The vehicle is only rated to handle small arms fire, and is ill suited to engage enemy medium-heavy armor, or light tanks, best used as an anti-infantry tool, APC and scout vehicle.

MT-LB APC

A Modern APC primarily used for transporting infantry, towing artillery pieces, and to act as protection for infantry during combat, though in many situations they simply act as Battle Taxis due to their rather light armament. They lack the module options of other vehicles, and are only rated to handle small arms infantry fire, though they can survive hits from rockets of small enough size and payload, albeit in need of extensive repair after. The vehicles primary function is, as was used, as an APC and artillery towing craft, and as well serves a secondary role as a logistics vehicle behind the lines that transports mortar pieces, munitions, etc.

P(astovlo) T(ani)-76

A Modern Light Tank, developed for use by the Soviet Army and Marines as an easily transported combat vehicle, capable of serving as both an infantry carrier and as support for tanks and other armored vehicles, and as well capable of close quarters fighting in areas where proper MBTs may suffer more considerable issues with locomotion and maneuvering. The vehicle was designed with modular use in mind, and its back can be opened up to house a mortar emplacement, and as well it can mount a machine gun, or a rocket launcher on its turret to add additional firepower to its frame.

BMP - 1 (and) BMP - 2








BMPs are considered to be the next generation of light tank, and are considered to be a direct derivative of the PT-76, though they are not entirely similar and share plenty of differences, and generally are not as powerful as the PT-76 in combat against armored vehicles. Their primarily role is to serve as troop carriers and supporting platforms to help infantry and other vehicles engage positions and enemy units. The BMP 1 is meant for fighting light armor, while the BMP-2 is meant for anti-air and light anti-vehicle duties, as well as anti-infantry, though both can be utilized for the last. Both serve as APCs and can carry a decent number of men into combat, and their armor is impervious to small arms, though there is worry of shoulder fired rockets being a problem, though these can be negated by the use of steel-cage panels of which slice into the warhead and somewhat negate its effectiveness, and thoughts of using a reactive armor are being tossed around. In combat trials, most crews agreed the vehicles were fairly effective in combat.

TU-59 StomRacha MBT50

The Modern Main Battle Tank of the Soviet Armed Forces, the TU-59, often just called T-59 is the currently most heavily utilized model of MBT in use by the Soviet Army and Marines. The tank's primary purposes are to engage enemy armor, and provide infantry protection against armored vehicles, acting in conjunction with other light vehicles to attack hostile craft. It's main gun is the second strongest Anti-tank gun that has been mounted on a tank, and its secondary armaments are variable as well, though this is usually a machine gun, or in some rare cases Rocket Launchers have been used experimentally. The tank sometimes carries infantry on its hull, and in some cases it has been given additional protection in the form of steel cages to try and reduce the effectiveness of rockets against its hull, and sometimes sandbags to add a barrier behind that, or to act as a barrier on their own. Not really effective against tank shells, but numbers and the frontal armor exist for that.

A T-72, with reactive armor. Ignore the reactive armor and just think it's just additional plating in the form of steel-concrete sandwiched together to add more protection.


The Next Generation of MBT to enter service, the T-72 is expected to supplement and then eventually replace or further augment the numbers of the T-59 if not serve alongside it, as it has been displayed as being heavily modular in its design. The cannon is longer, larger and fires a larger caliber shell, and as well can fire various forms of, including high explosive, armor piercing and canister shot. It is armed with a top mounted machine gun operated by a crewman or the commander. The vehicle is about as fast as the T-59, despite its heavier armor, thanks to its upgraded engine providing it the necessary horse power to push through to hit the same range of speed as the other tank, though its load-out can effect speed. It can like other armored vehicles be given steel cage and other types of protection against shells and rockets, though it is impervious to almost all but proper anti-tank guns and such of large enough caliber to harm the T-59 and up. Like all tracked vehicles though, if it losses its treads it's kinda screwed. 

It's machine gun can be replaced with a rocket launcher, and some have been tested with small rocket launcher racks, though neither model has been widespread implemented and so far the machine gun is favored massively.

T-35MT

Not-so-modern MBT used and still in use by the Soviet Armed Forces to act as a supporting vehicle or the primary vehicle of most armored forces, to provide a degree of flexibility and additional fire power on the battlefield. Unlike its modern descendant, the T-35 has a hull-gun used to engage infantry, and as well has a decently effectively, though notably outdated main cannon on its hull. Because of its somewhat weaker armor and generally older (though still capable) frame, the tank is often deployed in numbers and used in conjunction with other tanks. The Tank has numerous refit packages, of which increase effectiveness against tanks, armored vehicles and infantry, and even a couple of which are anti-air focused. The vehicle generally remains in this form however, a shorter barrel and such, generally easy to produce and maintain, and not expensive to build more of. It sometimes serves secondary roles with logistics such as protection or carrying equipment, though this is uncommon.

BTR40

A fairly basic LAV of which is used mainly for recon and to support and transport infantry, often used by Soviet mechanized units as a light attack vehicle and transport craft. It's not well suited to fight anything of larger size or with the armament necessary to destroy smaller vehicles, I.E. not suited for fighting tanks, and in many cases is often kept out of fighting when armored vehicles are involved, though they do sometimes serve as a secondary force to defend against hostile infantry in combat. The Soviet Army makes prolific use of them as skirmishers in many cases during border engagements, where heavier armor is overkill and unnecessary.

T-60 - Being Phased Out

---

A light tank/AFV of which straddles the line between proper tank and a tankette, it's armament was more fit for fighting more light vehicles/LAVs than it was for taking on proper MBTs. Still in limited use, the tank is now used in a support role to act as a skirmisher and as support alongside PT-76s and other tanks to attack hostile LAVs and helicopters, where it excels at the task(at least 'excels' relative to its actual effectiveness now). It's not the most effective, and its armor is light, but it serves in the role well enough to remain in service, though no more are being produced by the USSR.

Refit packages exist for it to try and fix some of its issues, but only one gives it moderate effectiveness against enemy armor. It has been in the past converted into rocket carriers and sometimes logistics vehicles, and rarely it serves as a scout vehicle.

Soviet Infantry Equipment

Small Arms are a requirement for infantry and any fighting force in general - you can't wage a proper war on the ground without them. Taking the moderate quality, larger quantity approach that the Soviets do, they have developed numerous firearms for use by Infantry forces, including shoulder fired rockets and automatic weaponry such as LMGs and submachine guns.

AK-47

Fairly basic automatic infantry firearm. Has a thirty round magazine capacity, is moderately accurate but generally not very, and in semi-auto fire is more accurate than automatic. Can mount personal grenade launchers, sometimes shotgun attachments, and almost never jams. Cheap to produce and not very maintenance intensive.

SKS

Soviet Designated Marksman Rifle, primarily used by marksmen and sometimes snipers to engage enemy infantry at range and behind cover, or for other more unconventional tasks. Reliable, not too prone to jamming, with a variable magazine. Some variations can be made automatic, though this often negates the SKS' accuracy.

Antoev Federovi

Old Automatic Rifle produced in the 1920s by the original government during the years of the collapse, to make up for the lack of automatic rifles. Fell into the hands of rebels and insurgents widely, and became the most used gun despite it having a relatively unreliable design. Still in use for the fact it's cheap and the current models, as well as old ones, have been upgraded and adapted to work better, though many old ones still suffer from defects found in the design, as well as a proneness to jamming. 19 round magazine. Accurate, but less so with auto-fire.

AK-74M



An infantry weapon able to switch between Fully Auto, Semi, and Burst fire settings. The rifle is a more reliable metallic version of the AK-47 and generally shares most of the same traits, just lacking wooden stocks and parts to cut back on production costs further and just use parts made from metal like the rest of the gun with rubber padding. The rifle can mount grenade launchers and grips, as well as scopes unlike the prior models of which couldn't do such. They share the amount of ammo in magazines and other such characteristics, though accuracy is notably better with this model.

Mosin Nagant

A fairly basic semi-automatic, accurate infantry rifle primarily used by infantrymen and guards, as well as the border guard. Very accurate, and not known to jam if properly maintained, it is a reliable weapon and is still produced for the civilian population of the Union as well as the military for use in training and as reserve weaponry/secondary weapons. Marksmen often make use of them as well. Bolt Action, six round clip. Sometimes even used as a sniper rifle.

Degtaryov Heavy Machine Gun

Used by Infantry and Guards to defend points of importance, and while old it still works quite well as a machine gun, requiring minimal maintenance thanks to its design but being a little bit worse for wear. It is generally easily and replaced, and it is not uncommon for them to be carried in large numbers on supply trucks to the field, to be deployed in numbers or simply to have replacements for parts/if the gun itself fails or is unusable. 460 RPM.

RPD

Modern Infantry carried LMG used to engage infantry, sometimes used by forces fighting from armored vehicles as well. Reliable though a bit maintenance intensive, it is a decently accurate (for an lmg) Light Machine Gun capable of firing semi-armor piercing rounds quickly and with relatively minimal deviation of the bullet along its path, meaning it can pepper some specific areas fairly accurately with fire. It is often used as a gun for tank crews as well. It can take either 40 round magazines or 120 round Drum Magazines. Some are modified to use Boxes.

Infantry deployed artillery piece for close fire support and defensive use, as well as sieges and short range artillery barrages. Typically used to support infantry attacks, often used in the mountains as well due to the nature of the terrain. A generally reliable light mortar emplacement that can be used by most troops with relative ease.

110 MM Mortar

Heavy Mortar developed to be used by infantry against tanks, heavy defensive emplacements and against buildings and houses occupied by the enemy, as well able to deliver specialized munitions into the air (I.E. Flares, chemical rounds). Generally used to support infantry and armor attacks, as well as to clear obstacles, fortifications and other such impediments to progress.

Man portable recoilless singe fire Rocket Launcher used for anti-tank duties and sometimes anti-fortification work. Easily produced, relatively reliable though flimsy, good for up to six firings of a rocket before It must be either refurbished or replaced, likely just discarded since they're so cheap to produce. It fires variable warheads that can be high explosive or armor defeating, typically good against most armored vehicles.

The Soviet Air Force and Navy

Soviet Aircraft

In the eyes of soviet tacticians, generals, and military analysts, the most important thing to accomplish tactical and strategic goals and ensure the success of any conflict is the outright control of the skies, of which the Soviet Air Force has been gearing up to ensure it has. Command of the Air is Command of the Battlespace, and the Soviet Union's armed forces recognize all too well its importance and the value of a strong and well oiled airborne machine in waging war against hostile opponents. The USSR's Air Force, while comparably small due to the size of the country to that of others, is still a powerful force in its region and generally well equipped, having some cutting edge military technology to supplement its disadvantage of size.

MiG - 5

Most Advanced and current Soviet Air Fighter using jet propulsion technology, few are in service and are primarily reserved for the most decorated wings, though  these relatively low in number fighter jets of which are primarily in the Black Guard and a couple of dedicated Air Combat regiments are being mass produced and used to supplement the somewhat aged air fleet of the Soviet Union. Typically armed with rocket pods and a single machine gun for dogfighting and rarely ground attack missions, sometimes carries bombs. Fifth model of jet fighter developed in the first generation of Soviet jet fighters.

Su-15



The Next Generation of Soviet Air Fighter, the Su-15 Flagon is the newest air fighter adopted by the Soviet Air Force and Navy to a lesser extent, and is intended to take a place as a decent air-to-air fighter craft, meant to intercept enemy fighters and as well to engage hostile aircraft directly in dogfights. It's primary armament is rocket pods, though it also uses two machine guns to fight as well, and coupled with its decent turning radius and speed it is overall a rather effective aircraft. It has space for only one pilot however. The vehicle is also a testbed for new tech and planned to have a somewhat long service life.

Tu-22



A new jet bomber of which is primarily geared to dropping chemical payloads over a large area via the use of speed and wide-range dispersal payloads, and as well is capable of tactical bombing with conventional payloads. It is a fast speed craft and its engines are upgraded versions of those used widely on the current line of jet powered aircraft, having been pushed to their near limit to be able to produce just enough speed to reach past the speed of sound and achieve steady supersonic flight. They can as well be used to drop torpedoes.

MiG - 3

A single seat jet fighter primarily used by the Soviet Air Force as a dedicated air supremacy plane, as it is ill suited for the roles of ground attack and is only armed, and able to be armed with, machine guns. With two frontal machine guns it generally sees service as a screen against enemy fighters and against bombers so that it can protect their own bomber fleets and as well defend cities against bombing raids. It is, while a little old, quite prolific, and various refit packages have increased its effectiveness a good deal, allowing for increased maneuverability. Some variations exist that have addressed some of its issues, though not all naturally.

An Imported Foreign Design of which is called the Warhawk, the Warhawk is a Multi-role fighter-bomber aircraft that has seen limited use and had good results. It serves as both a fighter, with its load-out of four machine guns, and can carry bomb loads up to 2500 pounds. While not as heavily produced as the MiG 3 it is generally considered to be more reliable, but because it is an all metal fighter it requires more resources to easily construct.

Ilyushin 03

Dedicated ground attack vehicle with limited air-to-air capabilities, it sees use primarily among Army Aviation and Marine Aviation, as well as some naval. It often serves as a recon craft too, though its primary use is as a ground support craft and such has not changed. The vehicle's primary operational goal is to carry bombs and use its submachine guns to clear out fortifications or destroy armored vehicles, and help the advance of ground forces. In the presence of AA it is sometimes operated, though rarely. Can carry a payload of up to two thousand pounds in small bombs, and has two heavy machine guns in the wings. Can mount rocket pods as well.

Ilyushin - 6

A prop engine tactical bomber often used in large swarms to attack hostile targets, I.E. cities, industrial facilities, and airbases/fields. They carry heavy bomb payloads often in excess of 20k pounds. Ill suited for actual combat they themselves are not armed typically, and rely most heavily on an escort to ensure they can operate effectively. When they do operate unimpeded, they are usually deployed in large numbers for infrastructural attacks.

The II-2 is a passenger and cargo transport plane of which is primarily used to deploy large scores of airborne infantry or move equipment and material to and from bases. It carries up to forty passengers at the most and can carry twice that amount in cargo when space is saved and no one is being transported. The seats can be removed from the aircraft by simply removing some locking bolts, allowing for them to be taken and replaced, or added. Some variations on the design can carry small armored vehicles, though these are very rare and used only on request from Airborne divisions.
