Moriarty sat in his dark office, only the twilight bleeding itself into the room through the windows and his cigarette provided light. He was a simple man of simple tastes, a few bottles of dark Gaelian draught were already downed on his desk as he awaited his driver to take him home to finish more off.
"Where's that kid?" he was growing restless, a long hard day arguing with the lords of Parliament made him want nothing more than to drown himself in cold beer and mindless television programming. A knock came to the door, "FINALLY! COME ON IN LAD", he stood up putting on his trench coat for the cool autumn weather awaiting him outside when he saw that it wasn't his driver at the door, "Admiral Keys? What in bloody hell do you want?".
Admiral Montgomery Keys III, probably one of the most decorated servicemen in the Royal fleet, Keys was instrumental in maintaining UK dominance in the sea during the Great War. "Apologies for the abrupt intrusion Minister, I was wondering if I could speak to you about the budget proposal discussed today." Moriarty rubbed his eyes trying to fight off the slow burn of the beer trying to bring him out of the state of sobriety, "Oh hell, not this again, dammit Keys I told you. I will get that bill passed, and you'll get your ships."
A knock came to the door startling both men, "Ah sir! I'm sorry for being late, here to take you home." Moriarty grumbled in anger and began walking to the door, the admiral politely pushed the subject, "Minister?" a loud tired sigh sounded off as Moriarty responded, "Tomorrow, bloody hell tomorrow. I think Alastair and Gable both are changing their votes, something about the whole....well you know." Admiral Keys purposely raised his eyebrow to imply as if he didn't know what the Minister was talking about.
"Look Keys, the sea is our strength, you shouldn't worry about the budget. EVER. But if our intel is right, we'll need the fleet prepared for the storm that is to come. I don't bloody trust the Galra and I sure as shit don't trust the UCV, those two are going to tear the world a new one. The Great War, will be nothing compared to the next one." Another knock came to the door, "Uh sir? Are yo..." Moriarty cut the young man off, "A minute you cunt", he opened the door to a young anxious man waiting for him and as Keys responded "How do you know the UCV and Galra will go to war?" Moriarty kept his pace walking alongside the young man and loudly, "I fought in the last war, I know how to pick up on these things now".
