In the Kumosenkan embassy in Amali, the assigned diplomat Nakama Suzume was sweating in her chair. She missed her home island where even in the hottest days of summer she didn't need an overworking air conditioning unit just to keep her from fainting. Diplomat Suzume's body was akin to that of a black widow spider on earth, her torso was indistinguishable from a human body as well as her face. Her dark chestnut hair was a mess of sweat and stress, being blown slightly by both the aircon and a hairsen in her offhand. She was hunched over her desk with her phone pressed into the side of her face.
"Yes of course. This meeting would be better held in person. I am free for the rest of the day, so please stop by at your earliest convenience." She didn't even bother to hide how exhausted she was. To her, it was as if the entire weight of her country's future rested solely on her shoulders. The Empress, Reitō Doku Kumo herself had assigned this mission to her. The importance of her job could not be overexpressed. As she placed the phone in its cradle, making a soft Briing, Suzume planted her face directly in front of the air conditioner. It was calming, but no replacement for the cool winds of Krelan. She needed to clean herself up and make herself look as professional as possible before the Amalian diplomats arrived.
She quickly walked over to the restroom with a brush in hand. She splashed some water on her face and quickly ran the brush through her hair. Hopefully, it appeared more orderly before returning to her office and patiently awaited their arrival.

The Secretary of State would, unfortunately, be holding a press conference regarding Amali's diplomacy with its neighbors for the next three years. An entourage of three diplomats, all women, would be dispatched to the Kumonian Embassy a few blocks away. Two demi-humans, Gentediavalo, and one human were in the small motorcade making its way to the embassy. Usually, it would be a mix of male and female, or whoever they had available, but given the culture of Kumosenkan only female diplomats were on task to deal with their ambassador.
The convoy would arrive about thirty minutes after the call came in. The elder of the Gentediavalo was busy reviewing some of the points the Secretary of State left them, speaking with the other two every now and then to review the points aloud. The human, presumably the youngest of them all, watched the buildings pass by and then perked up when they arrived at the embassy. Once they arrive at the embassy, their driver would pull over and let them out. The trio would make their way to the embassy's front doors.
Alda Lucciano - Gentediavalo - Senior Diplomat, Domestic Affairs Expertise
Chiarina Calabresi - Gentediavalo - Senior Trade Diplomat
Elnora Albano - Human - Junior Diplomat

The embassy building stood out in the Amali capital. Gold leaf, and Kumo produced webbing made for an interesting ornate décor. The entrance was two doors, arranged in a pseudo airlock like setup in order to help keep the cool air in. Inside the air was at least 20 degrees cooler than it was outside, and the light hum of air conditioners could be heard working in overdrive. There was a handful of Kumo and a single human standing in a line that led to a large desk. At the head of the line a male Kumo was helping the civilians with visas, passport updates, and any other work that required the oversight of the Kumosenkan Government.
At the other end of the desk was a female Kumo who was looking out for the Amalian diplomat team. Seeing them enter she quickly waved them over to her. "You're here for the meeting with Suzume-Kama aren't you? She's on the third floor." She handed one of them a small silver key. "Use this in the elevator and it should take you straight up. Then her office is all the way at the end of the hall on your left." She offered a professional smile and small bow before returning to her paperwork.

The senior diplomat nodded, thanking the attendant for the instructions, and proceeding to the elevator and following instructions to the Ambassador's room. In the elevator, the trio would start discussing among themselves. "[So, the Kumosenkan people are on the verge of starvation?]," Elnora asked, in Florencen. "[They have enough to feed their people, but one bad harvest will mean a year of starvation]," Alda replied, "[The Northern's war prevented a lot of trade from getting through by rail.]" "[It's pretty stupid that all rails lead to Ida Koi]," Calabresi murmurs, "[The rails should be more interconnected between countries to allow us to ship wherever we need to. But that dumb treaty from the 1800's has given those moths a monopoly on the rail systems. The only reason the previous President sent in troops to Koi was to protect the Staol route south, which we see what happened with those results.]"
When the elevator dinged on the required floor, the three got out and acted as if nothing had happened and no discussion took place. They proceeded to the Ambassador's office, knocking on the door to announce their presence.

The Ambassador quickly walked over to the door and opened it. She looked over the three diplomats and frowned she was expecting to deal directly with the Secretary of State. She quickly shook off the disappointment and smiled professionally. "[Welcome to the Kumosenkan embassy. Thank you very much for coming.]" She spoke in nearly perfect Florencen. "[My name is Nakama Suzume, please come in.]" She bowed slightly and stepped back from the door allowing the three diplomats into her office. She sat behind her desk, as the Kumo couldn't exactly use standard chairs most of them opted to sit on the floor by folding their legs beneath them.
As the three diplomats got situated in the chairs offered Suzume spoke up once more. "[Am I correct to assume that the three of you know why you're here?]"

The three would introduce themselves in kind, and bow accordingly.
"[Thank you for having us,]" Calabresi says.
After they got situated in the office, Calabresi was busy pulling out some paperwork and the youngest of the three busily set about preparing to record the information of the meeting. She had set up one of the new generation of typewriters to be able to process the information quickly.
"We can speak in the common tongue, if it's a little more comfortable for you," Elnora says, bowing her head a bit. "But yes, we know why we're here. The Secretary made sure we were briefed on what the importance of this meeting."

"Thank you. Commons is much easier for me. I've spoken it since I was a child." Suzume said smiling at the group.
"I have the full authorization of the Empress to make a deal with Amali. I assume you have a similar authority to work with me. I'll be blunt. We have been on the brink of famine for the past six months. We wish to import all of the food you have available on the market. As well as docking rights for our convoy escorts to extend our range and defend any material convoys coming to Kumosenkan. What do you need from me to make this deal." Suzume kept a very stern expression on her face, trying to convey the severity of the situation.

"While we do have authority to authorize the treaty, it must be passed by Congress," Lucciano says, remaining as equally as stoic as her Kumonian counterpart. "In order to make it work, especially with the idea of a foreign fleet basing itself in our harbors, we are searching for materials to help us in our projects. We can approve some immediate aid to help stabilize your food situation in the mean time, but in order to make it long term and sustainable we ask for uranium deposits you have as well as chemicals. We can build up the infrastructure for production and shipment of it, if you nation has not looked into such materials yet. These may seem obscure, but we have our reasons for it."
The junior diplomat was busy writing down the nights, pitter-pattering away on the type writer as quickly as she could.

Nakama Suzume nodded and relaxed her shoulders a bit. "We've only recently begun investigating the mineral of Uranium. Though if it's trading to you helps make this deal happen then I am more than happy to give you forty percent of what we currently extract. We are currently looking into proper uses for the chemicals we have and I can only authorize a trade of fifteen percent of chemicals. If all of this is agreeable for terms of the trade deal and docking rights I have a further proposal for you. The Empress would like to propose further cooperation between our two nations in the form of a formal alliance. In turn, we would reduce our tariffs on Amalian goods down to a maximum of two point five percent. We'd allow full military access in Kumosenkan territory including docking rights for your ships. We would come to your aid in case of the outbreak of war. We of course would ask the same from you if you were to agree to this. As well, to sweeten the deal I'd be willing to offer you double the amount of uranium and chemicals than if you were to just accept the trade portion of our agreement. As a final bonus, Ulster-Gaelia has already agreed to this alliance and you could expect the same benefits from them as from us."
Nakama pulled out a small stack of documents that further outlined the agreements of the alliance and passed it over to the diplomats.

"We will be sure to make a good case in front of Congress," Luccciano says. "In the interim, the President can approve immediate food relief aid while the bill is being processed. I will remind you that this may be an uphill battle to approve, seeing as the rumors of eating non-Kuoman life are still widespread in the nation. Undoubtedly we will see issues arise with the desert states refusing to pass this as they are areas that are still fairly underdeveloped. The economic stimulation will undoubtedly get a large chunk of the economically-minded representatives on board with this."
"Ulster-Gaelia..." Calabressi trails off before looking at the ambassador again. "And has your nation been in contact with them regarding the food crisis as well?"

Suzume sighed. "I wish I could go back in time and stop my ancestors from ever doing that. It was a disgusting and ignorant practice in a time where any non-Kumo life was considered no more than any other livestock. Let me say this unequivocally say. That practice has been completely outlawed and anyone discovered engaging in it is prosecuted to the full extent of the law. If there is anything we can do to further prove that to you and your people inform me immediately and I will do whatever is within my power to help."
Turning to address Calabressi she nods. "Yes, Ulster-Gaelia is aware of our food situation as well. They've offered to sell their tuna to us at half the price they were beforehand."

Calabressi nods back.
"Time is really the only best way to dispel the rumors, along with continued relationships and communiques on the friendlier side. At this point, most would be in favor of it given some... Situations nearby."
The diplomat gave the ambassador a very telling glance without ever actually saying what the exact specifics were.
"We will see to it that the treaty passes, as we believe we have secured enough of Congress in both the House and Parliament to have a safe passage. Is there anything else you would like to discuss?"

"I'm glad to hear that. I already have full authorization from Empress Reitō-Kama to execute all terms of our future alliance. I look forward to working with all of you in the future. Your professionalism and openness in this matter were incredibly appreciated. Though if I may be so blunt to ask, what situations nearby are you talking about?"
Suzume tilted her head and leaned forward. She planned to curse out her lower diplomats and spies for not already having that information for her.

"A fair number of our population are not happy with the encroachment of their cultural and religious homelands," the diplomat says. "Gentediavalo originate from the desert, and the wars against the House of Detti have disrupted a lot of the stability in the desert regions within the past century. Many do not take quite kindly to the potential ruination and destruction of their cultural heritage, and many of our private entities have been demanding proper precautions against their destruction."

"I'm sorry to hear that. If our holy sites were lost to foreign nationals I know there would be riots in the streets. If there is anything Kumosenkan can do to aid you in this matter do not hesitate to ask. However, for now, it's time to put this meeting to an end. Please keep me informed of further developments with our future alliance. The Empress and I will await your call." Suzume smiled at the two and stood to open the door and bowed respectfully. "Thank you for your hard work."
