Gelasian Age 2.58-1.8 Ma
Seeing the rise of the modern Incedio Squama Draco Sapiens, informally known as inselni, the first truly organized tribes emerged in different regions with subspecies adjusting for their climates. Basic concepts of communication, clothing, and primitive tools are used in hunter-gatherer societies of up to three families, or almost a dozen individuals. Cooked food is very widespread thanks to an evolved minor pyrotechnic ability and the actual use of it other than for direct hunting. Prey is primarily caught ambushed or driven out from shelter with fire. Long lifespans ensure that experience is well preserved throughout generations, but societies are hardly permanent- most inselni end up living lives of solitude after about a single century with their family.
Chibanian Age 781000-126000 IC
Inselni tribes expand into dozens-large communities. Some settle down into a semi-sedentary lifestyle, while others maintain a strictly nomadic traveling life, notably those living in the desert regions of the continent. The first inselni-on-inselni conflicts emerge over territory disputes at the Kalveri River near the coast, where prey commonly gathered to graze. A total of perhaps five subspecies fought over the region, but very few were made up of tribe members- most were individuals fighting over personal claims.
The first "Queens" emerge as inselni who seek to preserve their tribe's usual disintegration to claim more territory. A variety of other wandering tribes are absorbed into these cliques, regardless of subspecies. These cliques hardly last long either, but new tribes always form in larger sizes from this point, with a flurry of different spoken languages. Basic trade emerges with barter, though an interesting system of exchanging information on land, resources, other tribes and technology is used as a crude neutral currency by some tribes.
Social structures seemed distributed between pseudo-theocracies and draconic, though castes did begin to form, with some Inselni developing proto-ranches of wild prey concentrated into fertile valleys for ease of hunting. Long lifespans ensure that the histories and lessons of each tribe is not lost and new ideas are exchanged thanks to the constant moving about of tribes.
Tarantian Age 126,000-11,000 IC
Dead are cremated after death and their remains buried. The invention of the bow leads to new hunting tactics, including jumping and gliding away from elevated heights to rapidly cover terrain. Inselni clothing adapts string fastens to bind down clothing while in flight rather than removing most clothing. Early food preservation is discovered by the storage of meat in dry dugouts in the ground or mountains, leading to many tribes beginning to settle down for longer periods of time with the ability to feed more and tribe sizes grow again as a result.
The arrival of humans in the region is marked by very hostile reactions of Inselni, driving humans from Elenria for generations to come in several brutal wars that see the first alliance of inselni tribes for more than a short period, entirely dedicated on the repelling of humans from the area. Not until the Novianean Age will humans make more than small sojourns into Elenria, many being met by patrols that attack on site. Early Wanderers make journeys out of Elenria on their own, bringing back more knowledge of western Touli, its various peoples included. Distrust of other sapients leads to their limited consumption by many inselni who make the trip out of Elenria.
Novianean Age 11000-8200 IC
Inselni on the offshore island of modern-day Elenria Elder successfully domesticate cattle and spread the ideas to other tribes across the Hinbury Strait. Agriculture is soon used to grow cereals to feed cattle and the development of terrace farming by Idensri inselni living along the Yasuhiro Mountains allows for their use as agricultural zones. Population growth expands massively, supported by the use of sun-drying to preserve crops. Tribes begin to settle in for longer periods, unwilling to leave behind their cattle and farms unattended. As a result, civilization begins to form at the end of the age as more permanent structures begin to take shape. Protein-rich plants find their way into mainstay inselni diet.
Humans return to the region in force as the Graverna tribes. A series of wars fought to suppress them by inselni tribes drives them to the northwest of the Elenria, eventually creating the Pearl and Snake tribes that will later form the first pre-Greatfern civilizations. They are kept in their region by the natural barriers of the rivers and Yasuhiro Mountains. As relationships slowly cool between the races, the first pre-Crown tribes make deals with local inselni to settle in their lands.
Northgrippian Age 8200-4200 IC
Early inselni philosophers argue that long lives should be spent in dedication to their families and communities. Birth of the Convent of Paths, though the emphasis of what paths are the most important are widely debated over. The advent of metalworking leads to the use of shaped armor other than hardened leathers being worn and metal coinage becomes widespread throughout the wide numbers of tribes.
The pre-greatfern and pre-crown human cliques fight over water access along the deltas of the coast, some assisted by inselni allies. The wars end with Snake acquisition of the mediterranean delta while the Falcon Crown tribe takes control of the Mogahol Tropics delta. Both develop their areas for farming and solidify their holdings to prevent future seizures at the end of the age.
Age of Civilization 4200 - 1896 IC
The city-states that are founded as a result of the bronze age are scattered about, many human kingdoms loosely confederated with one another in one way or another. The inselni philosopher Ureila is recorded as among the earliest writings, calling for the Queens of inselni city-states to come together and confederate against the rapidly-growing Greatfern kingdoms. The resulting brief Council of Yalkna decides the loose unification of inselni civilization under a single Queen, founding the Auqrawn Queendom, which would centralize language and currency in the inselni lands, though internal wars would continue to run rampant with Queens and Kings serving their own interests.
Auqrawn Queendom - Preclassical Inselni Age 4180-3460 IC
Written by Auprai Inples, August 1897
The Elenria's name is surprisingly not well documented for a meticulous race, though from ancient Inselni records and various translation guides it is generally believed that it is connected to the Auqrawn Queendom, an ancient predecessor of the modern Inselni civilization. From "century tablets," (multilingual tablets that may function as Rosetta stones) it is discernable that Elenria meant "Nestland," or "[Home(?)] of the Horned Tribes," though which one of the two is more likely is disputed. Nevertheless, the Auqrawn is considered the first beginning of a documented united and conceptually permanent Inselni civilization in the Elenria. (There is evidence of the various ethnicities having existed with their own independent cultures beforehand, but little is known besides intricate carvings that decorate older caverns around the nation.) The Convent clearly exists by this point, though it is less refined- there are few rules and the Wanderer path seems to be the primary path to follow, with the other two appearing to simply be part of the journey.
Well-preserved caverns underneath Pactstei reveal it was likely the site of at least some sort of major Auqrawn settlement- there is uniform architecture that is meticulously carved into the granite faces of walls and columns, painted over with many layers of pigment that remains mostly undamaged through careful maintenance. It is suspected that this preclassical era was much focused on the exploration of the land around them, evident by a large room that has revealed circular maps carefully painted together. The maps' shape are suspected to be the result of only scouting the area around wherever the individual or family unit chose to nest in, well detailed in geography, flora, and fauna.
Dead continued to be immolated and their remains put into ornamental pots while a hollow glass statue was made and filled with their ashes, likely done by close relatives or friends. Personal belongings were set with the deceased and weapons were buried before their ashes point-first to denote the end of their use. These would be sealed together in small crypts in the wilderness, often at high altitudes. A yearly/biyearly/decade-recurring (debated) ritual would be observed to honor their memories by having those close to them visit to add decorations to their graves, resulting in monuments that were often housed in small altar-like sheds to shield them from harsh conditions.
Lavien Queendom - Early Classical Inselni Age 3460-1866 IC
Written by Illepsi Kapien, September 1876
The demise of the Auqrawn Queendom is noted to be the result of the last heir dying of an unknown plague(the nature of which remains debated), spurring a no small conflict over a successor bloodline. This is eventually determined to be the Lavien line under Queen Yaken after a ten-year civil war that tears the Queendom apart and likely is the reason that many records pertaining to the previous regime no longer exist, as Lavien Queendom records note that the library of the Auqrawn Queendom was part of their capital and as a result, was mostly destroyed in the process of reunification. Information is blurry as to what happened to loyalists of the previous Queendom- it is suspected that most, if not all, swore fealty to the new Queen. The Convent brings in the first mention of the Nest Path in this era, notably by specific order of Yaken herself to maintain the population's numbers. The Wanderer path is given more flexibility, but also is the start of specific orders, such as tasks to maintain or build infrastructure, in addition to other forms of civil service.
This era reveals a more refined civilization, with the start of philosophical records and literature beginning to form and evolve from being mostly court (and/or apparently a "middle class" of certain fraternal organizations, but their existence is disputed.) exclusive. Inselni literacy becomes a priority and is mandated by the Queen to be concentrated at an early age. Understanding of mathematics, science, astrology, and other fields of knowledge improve greatly at the highest point of the Queendom. Experiments with basic chemistry are documented, in addition to the use of "blazing dust," staol, in alchemy. At least three injuries result from such experiments.(All by the same individual.)
It seems that culture also improved the type of clothing worn by Inselni, replacing what had previously been mostly leather traveling gear with more comfortable linens and jewelry. Most notably, a sort of clasp with ribbons is introduced for those forming families, attached around upper and lower horns. The first "tattoo" is also documented, though its legitimacy as such a decoration is argued to be only a predecessor as it was a temporary pigment painted onto the wing membrane and facial scales to accompany biological streaks for ceremonial purposes. A wig is recorded to have existed at some point for some kind of party, though it seems to have been a joke by the remaining personal accounts of its creator, mocking the pelts of animals.
