The Ain Club

Society of the Ains, Friends of Freedom and Equality (Société des Ains, amis de la liberté et de l'égalité) commonly referred to the Ain Club (Club des Ains) or simply the Ains, is the ruling group of the URRV. Founded in 1937 by anti-Shahist deputies, it originally was a small organization that grew into a statewide republican movement. The Ain Club organized the start of the Republican Rebellion in 1940, and merged with the Serf Revolts to form a united front against the Shahist Forces. After the defeat of the White Forces Maxine rose to prominence, founding the Rivin faction of the Club.

The Factions

Rivins

Founded by Maxine the Rivins are known for their centralization policies as well as their role in the "Purge". Founded during the Revolution the faction quickly gained control over the leadership quickly. In response an opposition faction, the Vichins, was formed. In 1943 the Rivins seize full control and Maxine is named Director of Public Safety. It takes a concerted effort by both the Vichins and the Moderates to gather enough votes to end the Rivin lead Interim Government. While Maxine has been removed from official government functions she still controls the faction in part, though Joséphine has been exerting her influence as the most prominent member of the Rivins in government.

Vichins

Founded by Leon, specifically as a counter measure to the Rivins, the Vichins are known for their emphasis on world revolution and commitment to the Internationale Movement. Having worked in conjunction with the Moderates to abolish the Interim Government the Vichins are the most powerful faction in the current government.

Peace Faction

The Peace Faction of the Ain Club are the current controllers of Union policy. Led by the twin Consuls the Peace Faction believes in Peace through Strength. Knowing that if they appear weak an attack is likely on the Union the Peace Faction has overseen the increase in military power of the Union. It is hoped that by showing both that the Union has a strong military, and the fact that they have not threatened the sovereignty of another state, that peace will maintain between the globe and the Union. The Peace Faction has a large support base in the Union, though that could change in a heartbeat. The twin Consuls are publicly known throughout the Union as the faction heads and it is also known that the Faction lives or dies on their support. If they were to ever withdrawal their support the Peace Faction would collapse.

War Faction

The War Faction of the Ain Club believes that war is inevitable. Led by Commissaire Satsu Kiryu the War Faction expects the globe to launch an offensive on the Union shortly. This meant that while they support the growth of the Red Army under the Consuls, they also believe it has not gone far enough. Due to the popularity of the Peace Faction they have avoided calling for a first strike, but they have criticized the "slow" build up of the Armed Forces. If the Union ever comes under unprovoked assault it is believed by all in government that the War Faction will take charge.
