"The issue isn't when the tough is internal, it's when there's pressure from the outside that we're worried about," the diplomat says, pulling out a two glasses and prepping them. "Amali almost slipped into a democratic dictatorship, similar to that of Koi, during the early parts of our history because of the Detti nations. We pulled out, but it is one of the dark spots in Amali's three hundred years as a democracy."
"What happens if one of the aforementioned adversaries decide to invade? How will your people cope then? Will they deem it necessary to continue warring on the continent to try and secure puppet governments? Will they try to directly control territory? Or will it be enough to dismantle the government and allow the people to decide their fates in their own right, and return home without further issue? That's the questions we ask."
He returned to Astem, handing him the glass before taking a seat again.

Aestem would drink a little before responding. "That my friend will depend on what our relation with the rest of the world is. If we have friends of our own I don't see something of negative consequence happening. However if we are on our own and under threat from the entire globe, who knows what the public response would be. That is why we are reaching out to fellow Republicans. If we have good relations with them, I have no fears."

"I feel like many believe that if you keep to your corner, most will be fine. Maybe not Galra or the Coalition, but most would probably not bother you so long as you play nice on the world stage. Hostile or cold, sure, but it's to be expected when your world views oppose their own," Ponzio says. "There's a reason you don't see us and Verak intermingle often when we can help it."

"Most of the world's major powers supported an absolute monarch who attempted to kill his own people to remain in power," Aestem pointed out. "I think it is fair for us to be suspicious of them. But as I said I am here to extend a hand in friendship from the URRV and invite Amali to send an ambassador to Librevelt. Whether people hate us or love us, we'd prefer them to have some contact with our government in order to prevent a war."

"That can be managed. I'll talk to the Secretary of State about sending a long-term ambassador up to your capital, all we'll need is the arrangements for where they'll be staying. Are you going to be continuing to grace our city or shall we be expecting another diplomat in your place for a permanent arrangement?" The older Gentediavalo asks, writing down some notes in chicken-scratch Aremic.

"I likely will not be remaining in Amali. That being said I will not be leaving before a replacement is sent, so that could take anywhere from no time at all to a long time. It all depends on if we have people we deem able to represent us to your government," Aestem would answer. "However it has been an absolute pleasure to meet with you and I hope that our states can get along even better in the future."

The Union's embassy would put out a request to meet with someone from the Amali Foreign Ministry, as soon as possible.
