Astillia, 1945 Like they had done with Fecrein not long ago, the Rombardan Diplomatic Office, RDO, would send a telegram to the government of Maiz and attempt to request a meeting, for the purpose of first establishing a permanent embassy in their national capital and then consulates, and as well negotiating a potential treaty for the sake of procuring large quantities of non-perishable food items. They would send this telegram, and wait for the response, as well as pick out a diplomat for the assignment should they be able to send them.

The telegram would be brought to the office of President Jackson in Zanesville. He'd take a once-over of the message, raising an eyebrow. "Did no one tell them we repaired the embassy since the war?" There would be several looks around the room, no one quite knowing the answer but it being clear that no one did. The President would sigh, "Alright then." Embssy set up STOP Meet soon STOP Dscssion can strt ASAP STOP

The Rombardans would do a bit of back and forth to get the details before they would dispatch their diplomat, Jacus Roden, to the nation. He'd arrive by aircraft about ten or so hours later, before they would then spend the night in a hotel rather than head to the Embassy itself. Once the morning had come they would head to the Embassy. Once he had arrived, and he had arrived alone, he would begin to walk towards the embassy gate, folding up his sunglasses.

The building wouldn't be significantly of note, compared to the usual standard of embassies in most countries, but even this building managed to stand out against the dull buildings of the capital. It itself was dull, but had a little more glass than the rest and a large sign that read EMBASSY of the IMPERIUM of ROMBARDA over the doors.
A white police car followed by a black pickup truck would eventually arrive to the front gate. Two men would get out, one from the cab and one from the bed, before the two vehicles would drive off. The two would step up to the gate, passing to the other side and waiting.

Jacus would take in the dull construction, more reminiscent of function over form ideologies and the brutalist building styles that his government had outlawed for official government buildings. He could see one of the reasons why, with how utterly depressing the city was. He made his way forwards once the other two men had made their way inside, with him drawing his passport from his pocket and holding it in his hand as he would give a wave with the other and approach them, the other holding the passport with his card facing outwards so they could see it. "Good morning, gentlemen. Nice to see the Embassy has been repaired, my government was wondering about that. They'll be pleased to hear it's not half demolished."

The men would chuckle. "When it's not elegant, it's not hard to rebuild in a timely manner. Don't need a thousand stonecarvers. We now it's not much like what other countries do, but it's just how we do things here." The men would shake Jacus's hand. "I am Edward Tigorman, and this is my associate-in-training Gregory McSamas. He'll be taking over for me when I retire in four months, so I'm teaching him the ropes."
As if to emphasize, a few cars would drive by, all blacks and grays, drawing the eyes towards all the rest of the surrounding buildings, a few other embassies of similar style mixed with one- and two-story buildings. In fact, it seemed that only the capital building was the tallest in the entire skyline at a whopping four stories tall.
"Shall we head inside?"

"It's a pleasure to meet the both of you." He'd reach out and shake both of their hands, before he would nod his head and gesture for them to lead the way. "Of course, wouldn't wanna make you stand out here any longer than we have to now would I?" He'd say as he started to follow behind them.

"Aside from a bit of nip in the air it's not all that bad out here." Edward would smile, leading them in. He'd unlock the door, turning and handing the key over to Jacus. "Building has only been opened to be cleaned over the past few weeks, so it there shouldn't be anything too out of the ordinary aside from the lack of paperwork."

"I didn't expect there to be much more than dust bunnies and empty desks, the guards destroyed anything important before they left anyway." He'd say. "Just protocol you know." He'd look at the key, and then pocket it, giving them a respectful nod. "Well, if I remember, the secure meeting room is in the center of the building and a bit below ground. Should be fine and all." He'd gesture for them to follow as he led them inside. "How have your morning's been?" He'd ask the both of them.

"We've been tryin' to keep the dus' bunnies down for ya," Gregory joked. Ed would chime in, "We understand, never want anything sensitive to get out to the wrong hands."
The two would follow behind, looking about the building as they walked. Ed would be the first to speak up. "It's been fine so far. Had about two cups of coffee and filled out two reports before you arrived." "I jus' cleaned the trucks. My mornin' was borin'." "How was your morning?"

"It was pretty quiet. Didn't do much more than shower and then head here when I was dry and dressed." He'd tell them. "Overall I'd say it was good." They'd soon come to a secured steel door, just using the key from earlier to open it and then pulling it open for them. Once through, he closed it, but did not lock it, before he made his way through the hallway which had less decor and seemed to have battlements in some spots, until they reached a door leading inside of a secured room with a old wooden table, stacked padded chairs, and then as well had paintings and a couple of crates off towards the back.
He'd grab a chair, and then another, handing them to the two other men before he grabbed his and set it down at the table. "Seems whoever did the cleaning was at least nice enough to buy new chairs from home." He'd say as he leaned back a bit in his seat. "Guess now is the time to get to business.." He'd stretch his legs a bit and put his hands on the table as he looked at them, and would clear his throat.
"..I'm here to represent the Interests of Rombarda with its partners and allies, and as well to build stronger ties to those allies. Especially now, as Rombarda has a potentially hostile neighbor to the north and as well a seaborne issue to the far south. As it stands Rombarda wants to strengthen its position, and to as well create mutual benefit between the Imperium and its allies in COG and outside it. They sent me here with the purpose of setting up first, more consulates, second, potentially setting up a couple of military bases and training with Maiz' armed forces, and third, creating stronger economic and diplomatic ties between our nations. Particularly, we want to buy more of your food, and to givey ou the means to mass produced preserved goods so that we can use them in our stockpiles for military facilities and emergency supplies."

The diplomats would follow, taking in the sight of the secured area as they finally reached the conference room. They'd take the chairs, Ed being the first to sit with Greg waiting until Jacus sat down before he sat.
Ed would nod, speaking up, Greg pulling out a notebook to take notes. "We understand the necessity of the situation. We are not confident in the stability of our Northern neighbor. They have only had their official government for about a year or so now. Until they prove themselves, we're not sure if they will keep this current government, go through another radical change, or something else. As I'm sure you and your supervisors are aware, we are not much of a military presence. If anything, we're a weak point in the COG, which we acknowledge. We would welcome our Eastern brothers and sisters back to their rightful embassy permanently. However, 'fore any bases come into play, we'd like help remedying our weakness. We'll happily sell more food and increase production, but we would like to prevent the need of our foreign ambassadors from fleeing the capital again."

Jacus nods his head once and cups his hands together.
"Rombarda would happily assist its Western brothers and sisters in bolstering their defenses, and that is indeed part of what we want to do. In exchange for the increase of food and production of it, we would help you set up the infrastructure to create and produce large amounts of preserved food products with a long shelf-life to be suitable for long-term storage. We'd as well, help you fortify your border to the north and as well assist in creating further defenses around your capital and major cities. The military bases would be established as well with the intention of placing garrisons in the nation to be able to first train Maiz' armed forces, and as well to potentially help you create your own motorized armies. We would as well provide you equipment made from Rombarda too if need be."

Ed nodded. "That would be well accepted by the uppers. However, we lack much of the industry to build equipment, as it stands. Would you also need us to create the bases, or will that be of your own doing? We can try to one or the other, but both likely won't be capable of happening due to our lack of industry. As for the preservation of food, our civilian factories could get to work on producing the factories needed to do that, but we'll need to see how fast that process would take..."

"Rombarda will work on the bases on its own. If need be we will contract from Maiz, either a private company or the government, for assistance. But we will bring our own equipment when we start to move soldiers and material into the country to establish these bases and as well to begin constructing their fortifications and logistical nodes. We may as well look into trying to build up your industrial capacity so that you can produce your own vehicles in the numbers you would need, or potentially give you some of our surpluses. The food arrangement is mostly fine at this point but we will look into trying to help you increase your production capacity there as well."
