POLITICAL VIOLENCE!
Escalation on the horizon?
Political violence has escalated in recent days following Vozhd Mikhail Yagoda's public address over the state of the country, and an increase in the military budget for continued safety of the streets in Orthorian cities. Next to repeated sabotage attempts from the National Liberation Front (НФЛ), the All-Union Anti-Monarchist Movement (ОАМД) has also recently begun sabotaging important military bases and outposts. The Orthorian National Bloc (ОНБ) from the Solidarist Party coalition made a statement following the recent attempted bombing of an office building, condemning both political movements for their self-destructive behaviour. The Orthorian Military Police commented that "The movements will soon be found, the culprits arrested, and their ringleaders shot, for the safety of the people.". When asked for any suspects pertaining to the recent sabotage attempts, Chief of the Military Police, Yegor Draganovich, points to only one person - Aleksei Suslov. Suslov is a popular author of primarily children's books, with an autobiography written that detailed his life before, during and after the 1928 Revolution, which had become an instant hit in Orthoria and enjoyed limited success abroad. However, Draganovich believes the man to be behind the increasingly escalating political violence in the capitol. Aleksei Suslov will be put under house arrest for one week, during which he will be questioned by the Military Police, and if no proof of his involvement is found, be released form house arrest.
Statue of Borislav Tadović unveiled!
The statue of long-time Orthorian folk hero, Borislav Tadović, had finally been unveiled after years of painstaking reconstruction by artisans, sculptors and construction workers, culminating in the return of the popular folk hero to his rightful pedestal in the city center of Volgora. Borislav Tadović was a soldier during the period of the Vaktan Kingdom's history known as the "Imperial Wars", during which the Vaktan Kingdom performed expansion toward the east, expanding its borders. Borislav Tadović was wounded in one battle, which had made him be unfit for further military duty, landing him in a retirement home in Volgora. However, following a series of attacks by natives on the Orthorian citizens, Borislav had turned to vigilantism in order to protect the citizens with all his remaining might. Borislav was immortalized in 1895 with a statue faithful to his appearance - a traditional vest, pointed shoes of the peasantry and his bear fur hat. However, during the 1928 Revolution, a stray artillery shell had hit the statue, shattering it beyond repair. Ever since, Vozhd Yagoda's government has been trying to repair it using second-hand information of how it looked, in order to keep faithful to the hero's image. At long last, the statue has been unveiled, and one more scar of the Revolution heals. Influential figures believe that, barring any wars or political crises, that the country will fully heal from the Revolution by 1950, at the latest.
