The distinct clacking of heels on a stone floor resonated through the Imperial Ministry of Health, much later in the evening than one would expect. Minister Mairead MacLeod had spent days, even weeks tracing a strange outbreak rumored to be taking place within the port city of Fort MacKintosh. Of course, disease outbreaks within ports were nothing out of the ordinary to her or the ministry, who assumed the reports of hospital beds filling were a result of an ordinary illness during the harsh winter. However, even with her colleagues' disapproval Mairead kept her investigation running. It didn't sit right, that all these people were falling ill so swiftly, but not from the same disease, nor with similar symptoms. Once she had arrived at her office, she sat down and pulled a drawer from her desk, each of the folders within containing the name of a different city within the province of Morigesh, cities suffering a similar fate to Fort MacKintosh. Ghostbarrow, Mistholde, Lochsdale, Dimmeadow, Tarnstead, Malrton, and Bullmar, all rife with illnesses that seemed to hold no relation to each other. She continued her investigation, working through the night on a report to present to the council of ministers in the morning, she only prayed they would heed her words.
