The Franch Parliament is a whirlwind of bills being proposed, debated, passed, shot down, and rarely vetoed by the King. Today was no different, but one bill managed to stir quite a ruckus in Parliament. Bill 1945-2021, or the "Personal Firearm Ownership Act" managed to pass with an overwhelming 72% majority thanks to being supported by both the PPL and PSF, a rare sight in Parliament. What is especially odd is the SNF's lack of support for the bill, despite the party's new willingness to work with both the PPL and PSF. Before the passing of the bill, the purchase of firearms was restricted to only those who had served in the Franch Army, with any existing guns grandfathered into legality. Now, any civilian of age 25 or older could buy a weapon if they served in the Army or could earn a Firearms License by proving they could safely handle a weapon. The weapons that civilians could now buy are limited to any pistol, any non-sawed off shotgun, and any rifle that was not automatic or semi-automatic, though the PFOA put a large tax on the purchase of weapons and a smaller tax on ammunition purchases. The leader of the PPL, Louis Marpellier, had this to comment on the bill. "Before the PFOA, many individuals who may have wished to buy weapons could not. I had never considered this a grave need before, but new events have changed my opinion, and I was glad to be able to work with the PSF on this bill. Viva Franerre!" The leader of the PSF, Paul Doriot, did not comment on the bill.
