Andorra Village, Southern Amali Coastline, Vaylien 1945.
Apollo had been born in Amali. His mother and father had however migrated from Rombarda almost two generations ago. He had been born in the deeper countryside and later moved to Ibania with his family when they decided to get closer to the coast for easier access to work. He had since spent his time, mostly as a fisherman until he had later joined the merchant marine during the war. He'd made a career out of it, and it had given him a new perspective on life.. and it had as well put him out of service too. What at first was thought to be 'minor' back injury had eventually led to him being discharged when it had gotten bad enough to warrant him needing extended time away.
He had gotten an easier and more flexible job at a factory ashore. It had been less painful and he had been able to recover easier with it, and it supported him well enough that he had felt comfortable living on his own again. As well it had allowed him to again afford one of his favorite hobbies, fishing. He would every so often go to the harbor, and that'd been on one fateful day, where he had met the love of his life. He hadn't at first figured that he could get along with a Kumo.. at least, he hadn't figured that at first. Their shared interest had gotten him to settle into it though, and when he looked past the admittedly intimidating exterior he had found that he liked what was on the inside and outside with it. More than liked, even.
He wasn't good with words and he had made an effort to improve that. It'd been about three or so years since he and them had become an item. Now he was going to see if he could push that further, if she wanted to go further.
With restrictions being what they were in the face of this new plague, he couldn't get a seat at a restaurant. Instead he had chosen to go to same place the two of them had met. The harbor was quiet and empty, but it was well lit. The sun was setting, the light was pleasant and the day was winding down. He was alone, for the moment, resting with his hands in his pockets as he gently ran his thumb over the back of the box. He was trying to ponder how he might go about doing this as he stood on the stone path leading down towards the wooden platforms that stretched out into the bay. He wondered too if the setting even mattered for this, if he should have tried to find something better. But to him he figured it would all be academic anyway if it fell through, so better to commit now. That argument kept up regardless what his sensible side said though, just at a low tone in the back of his head as he admired the view.

Emilia Yusa, a relatively short Kumo standing only six feet tall, moved to Amali at the end of the Fifth Staol War. She was an enlisted sailor of the Kumosenkan Royal Battle Fleet. She served on the RBS Jonetsu, a Kiken class destroyer. She manned an anti-aircraft weapon, swatting Galran aircraft out of the sky and into the deep blue ocean. However, there was only so much anyone could do, when the captain chose glory over safety. The destroyer had rushed through the Galran screening during a battle in a brutal thunderstorm. A Galran cruiser's main battery fired upon the Jonetsu and detonated the destroyer's magazine. Of the hundred and fifty sailors on board, Yusa was one of a dozen who survived the ship's sinking. Not without injury, in the explosion, she had lost her left foreleg and received a nasty gash from the lower half of her torso all the way up to her neck.
She spent the rest of the war in a hospital recovering. She was told she had a less than 10% chance of survival and yet she pulled through. Though living in Kumosenkan felt like an everyday reminder of the hell she lived through so she left. She started working as a shipwright in Amali, designing and constructing civilian ships. She still remembers the day she met Apollo as if it were yesterday. She had been standing on the pier overlooking the launch of her first ship when he had nervously approached her. Love had never been at the forefront of Emi's mind. After her injury, she had written off anyone ever looking at her in a romantic way ever again.
When Apollo asked her out to say she was anxious was an understatement. She fell for him slowly and carefully until she was madly in love with him. She came home from a particularly long day at work to an anonymous letter slid under her door. 'Come to the pier.' The handwriting told her exactly who it was, and her heart began to race as she began to reason why Apollo wanted her to come to the pier. The pier where they had first met. She practically sprinted out of her home after locking up.
She saw the love of her life waiting there and her heart jumped into her throat. Her seven legs felt like they were filled with sand as she walked slowly up to him. The fur on her abdomen and legs blew in the wind, but time felt frozen to her. "Hey you. Looking for me?"

Apollo would turn as he heard her voice, seemingly surprised and a little shocked at her appearance - not her looks, her managing to get so close to him without him noticing. He had zoned out so hard that mentally he really hadn't been on the same field until they had actually spoken to him, his mind wandering across the world practically as he thought of how he might go about this. He'd calm down just as quick as he had been surprised, and return to normal, his eyes drifting to her and then back to the water for a second as he pushed himself off of the stone wall he had been leaning against.
"Yes love." He'd say, smiling warmly as he locked eyes with her. Apollo was a solid 6 feet, built like an athlete and covered in a layer of thin fluff that let his muscle definition be easily seen. Even despite this naturally imposing build he radiated a aura that was almost the opposite of intimidating around her, probably helped by the fact his voice was smooth as silk and his accent only added to it. "Didn't even hear you, I was so distracted watching the waves." He'd say as he came close, his hands coming out to lace over his belly. He looked calm, but his tail was moving more than usual, swaying anxiously from side to side.
"How has your day been, dearest?" He'd ask her.

Emi peered curiously at his tail, but her attention was quickly drawn back to the face she loved so much. She put her hand on Apollo's cheek and smiled warmly while getting lost in his eyes. "No different than normal. We've still been completely swamped with the new transport designs. I was supposed to still be there, but my boss let me go home early today." She smiled and wrapped both of her arms around his neck. She had gained some weight in the past few years, and her previously muscular upper body was now slightly chubby. Aside from the loss of a leg, her lower exoskeleton had hardly changed in the past decade. It was that of a pink-toed tarantula.
She softly brushed the top of her lover's head as she continued. "Then I came home and found a mysterious letter telling me to come here." She looked into his eyes and smiled. "And now I'm here." Her voice was as soft as her auburn hair blowing softly in the wind. "How has your day been my love?"

Apollo would love her regardless her appearance. Her beauty captivated him, but her voice stirred him, made him feel warm and happy. Her touch would have him start to subtly purr as he smiled back at her, and would rest his hands onto her shoulders, gently pulling her closer to hug them for a moment. He listened to her as she would wrap her arms around his neck, his hands rubbing her back gently as he nodded, showing he was listening, before soon those hands would slide to her side, giving her a light squeeze as he hugged her around the waist.
"It wasn't good at first, but now that I'm with you again it's the best day ever.. and this time, it'll be even more memorable.." He'd say as he would pull away from her. He smiled nervously, his cheeks turning a faint red that managed to break the fur of his cheeks as he would reach into his pocket, and then after a moment he'd step closer, and pull from his pocket a small blue box. He got down in front of her on one knee, and would take a deep breath as he looked up into her eyes.
"..I love you, Emilia. I love you with all my heart. Please.. be mine?" He'd open the box, revealing a pair of golden rings.

There is nothing that brought such peace to Emi's life as Apollo's touch. It stayed her heart and melted away her worries. She felt that Apollo was her reward for all her suffering and all her strife. Emi had a suspicion that this was the reason he had called her out here. Still, she felt surprised. She felt joy, excitement, and a flurry of other intense emotions. She thanked the spirits that she came to Amali, for even if she had been so lucky as to meet Apollo in Kumosenkan she could never have this. A pure and true confirmation of his love for her.
Tears had welled up in her eyes as she looked down on the handsome face she had fallen for. There was nothing that Emi wanted more than to say, "Yes!" She began openly sobbing as the tears rolled down her cheeks. Her body felt like collapsing as she became completely overwhelmed with love. "Yes, Apollo I will be yours."

He'd get in closer and gently take her hand when she had said yes, his smile widening as his tail began to actually wag, something that wasn't new, but a sign of excitement and happiness that was difficult to draw out of the man who used to have to constantly tuck his somewhat crooked tail into a sleeve in his pants. He would gently lift her hand, and softly slip the ring onto her finger, before he would let her do the same for him. Then after that he wrapped his arms firmly around her and buried his face in her neck, hugging her tightly as he nuzzled his soft muzzle against her. Even he was tearing up a bit.
"T-This is the happiest day of my life, Emi.." He'd say, one of his hands moving to softly wipe at his own eyes before he would gently and slowly retract from the hug, his hands following her shoulders down to her arms and to hers, him talking hold of them and holding them. His smile seemed even warmer, and yet even more alive. There was little hiding the faint bags beneath his eyes from years of sleep deprivation, but even they seemed to almost disappear now with how happy and energized he seemed.
