Termingrad, Kesk Koi, Koi
A light gentle snow fell on the city late at night. The busiest city in Koi, it was quieter on the streets than usual. Except in the city center, thousands were gathered on the streets and in the park, their eyes on the tops of the buildings. Several speakers were playing music to the streets below, the crowds gathered and enjoying each other's company and the merriment of the night. Atop the buildings, large signs sat, though they were tough to see in the dark of the night and in the soft snowfall, their shape clearly neon signs, though they were off at the moment.
The clock tower of the city hall would strike 11:59, the crowds soon falling silent as the speakers would lower their volume. The mayor and the governor would step out onto the balcony of the city hall, waving down to the people on the street. The second hand on the clock slowly ticked, more of the crowd settling. As the clock ticked to 11:59:30, voices could be heard across the streets. Faintly at first, but as the gears of the clock chunked along, the voices grew louder.
"Twenty-one."
"Twenty."
"Nineteen."
The voices echoed through the city's buildings and as the voices hit fifteen, the first of the large signs lit up. Slowly, each one flickered on, counting down with the citizens' voices.

The crowd would cheer as the final sign came on, fireworks firing into the sky from the rooftops, celebrating the coming of the new year. Another year gone by, and another year, filled with new possibilities and new frights was upon the world.
