Economic Exploitation of the North and Nomadic Divide
The Dirian Federation is a young and fledgling republic. Having recently transitioned back to democracy in 1928 from a Constitutional Crisis, it has only just begun to process its newly established code of laws and further its local agendas and objectives of maintaining itself on the world stage. Through its triumphant revolution that defeated Verak, the failed experiment of the Dirian Confederacy, and the previous interim government that forced Diria into a state of stability at the cost of freedom, its history has showcased Diria as a continuously unpredictable nation. Yet, it seemingly always bounces back through its worst moments and hypocrisies. With staggering economic miracles, its freedoms stronger than ever, and a now complex but functional democracy flourishing through the lessons of its previous tribulations, Diria seems to be a miracle as much as it is a testing ground for anything extraordinary. Unfortunately, despite its beauty and gifts to Ouhiri, Diria's most significant fault is its location. Having to endure the economic turbulence of its region, radicalized neighbors, and the previous drastic measures for its significant growth has already started the basis of many issues, from inflation, political radicalization, foreign paranoia, and the unstable cultural divide between North, East, and West. Diria, either from its government, people, or history, has been positioned within a crossroads in which it has to walk a thin line and has to face the truth of its overly oil-reliant economy, its backward foreign policy, and the cultural obstacles that have begun to plague Diria's frontiers while keeping the restless and worried people of Diria stable and cooperative with the still fresh fear of foreign occupiers or internal conflict.
The Dirian Federation has maintained a large field army under its policy of armed neutrality. Due to its location, relations, and tumultuous history of being conquered and subjugated, Daria's policy of armed neutrality once enjoyed popularity with its government and people who considered it a requirement. However, in a changing world and with the growth of economies and financial interests worldwide, the necessity and the actual benefit of Daria's isolation and neutrality are now in question, and people grow restless from the self-inflicted economic inflation of a runaway budget to the military and the pinnacle to which autarky was viable. Furthermore, the constant paranoia and isolationism that has begun to fade with the passing generation, the necessity to diversify the economy, and the establishment of defense against newer threats have started to push Diria outwards. Nonetheless, all have not accepted the changing political environment, and the growing internationalist sentiment has further divided the unenthusiastic traditional Western populations.
Economic Exploitation of the North and Nomadic Divide
The economic and political miracle of Diria came with a cost to the once untouched northern sacred land and the culture shock industry brought to the Dirian North and its Nomads. The substantial growth of mining, drilling, extraction, and manufacturing has transformed the barren desert into thriving working cities, bolstering Diria's economic wealth. Yet, it has led to several harsh truths that have ultimately questioned the standing and equality of the Northern populations and States compared to the rest of the nation. Local infrastructure remains derelict, with only those, like corporations or the rich, enjoying access to minuscule modern transportation that does exist. Similarly, the local businesses and land are easily abused and pilfered by the previous Interm-Government laws and regulations that still plague the Northern Regions as corporate entities, and the Dirian Government exploits loopholes with no remorse. For all of Diria's idealism, the North remains its thorn, being blatantly hypocritical as one of the most unrepresented and disconcerted people of Diria, the nomads, once untouched and relatively isolated from the politics of settled Diria, now face railways, towns, and mines arising across their claimed ancient and generational lands and given no sympathy or pity. Holey unequal, unfair to the Northern Nomads or Locals, and assistance from the Dirian Government nearly nonexistent, most are ultimately unable to escape poverty or transition into the strange settled life that goes against their beliefs. However, those who do are still looked down upon and discriminated against by an opposing and historically resentful Dirian society. Thus, the Nomads have taken other violent means to guarantee their identities as the situation escalates, and the reports of their protest and insurgency, driven by sensationalistic media, have only destabilized the dunes of Diria, further dividing the fledgling nation on an increasingly pressing and controversial topic.
