Within the Republic of Koi, the nation is split into several administrative districts known as osariigid (sing. osariik). The osariigid's borders originate from as early as the time of Kingdoms and Duchies that made up the area that is now Koi, though some come from local political power during the era of the Koian Republic. During its transition to its current government, the osariigid remained as they were. Local governments were allowed to continue to exist, though the federal government took over significant portions of the duties of the osariik governments.
