In the aftermath of the Overthrow, the military built beneath the Tsar to protect Roskana from their hated enemy in Grinvel would have to be reconstituted to better reflect the values of the Republic that it had in large part been responsible for establishing. It inherited the institutional knowledge and in many cases, practices of the older Tsarist institutions as they became those of the Republic, and would be immediately tested in a true trial by fire when Grinvel launched a assault against the fledgling republic in the year 1904. It performed well and beat the Grinvelian armed forces, strapping them with a humiliating defeat that gained international recognition.
Since this first true battle against a peer state, the Roskanan armed forces have gained prestige and renown globally for their delivery of Humanitarian Aid, adherence to a code of honorable conduct, and their anti-piracy operations. As well, it has numerous smaller agencies within its structure that support law enforcement and internal policing.
The Roskanan Armed Forces consists of several major branches and then numerous component services beneath the main ones.
