Morgan leaned in to the table as he listened to both Fleet Admiral Jane Harris and General Shoreman Jones. A mild discussion of equipment was developing in their bi-annual end of year review of the services. They had quite the back and forth going, being old friends led to some slight drifts from the actual discussion and mostly made it a large excuse to catch up.
He cleared his throat to halt the two, "If we could get back on track please? Both of you mentioned something about commissioning a new rifle?" Both would look at him like two deer in headlights before snapping back to reality.
"And a machine gun, Duke knows we need one.", Jones responded "Our heavy machine gun is fine. It works and its reliable. It's the lighter one that's causing issues. I'm sure you know of our infantry's..... 'designation' for it."
Harris would chime in after Jones, "The Marines hate it to, and our lighter emplacements are lacking because of the MPM's poor quality." Looking at Jones before continuing, "We both suggest holding another bid."
"As well as one for a semi automatic rifle, at the very least a better prototype than the old TBR to give our more experienced troops."
Morgan would hum and nod before responding, "I'll put the word out for a bid, though it will partially interfere with the already outstanding one for the lend lease program. Funding may be tight."
"Something is better than nothing Sheffield. I'll even take some cheap pipe gun made by Mira and Vikan. There's no doubt the Grinvelians have one."
