Maiz has a rigid society with it's agricultural field serving as it's foundation, the core tenants and aborigine are the principles of it's Republic; however many citizens express a strong and sentimental carefree attitude, valuing home and hearth above all else. This unsurprisingly has impacted their ability to industrialize, despite this, the average Maizian citizen is traditional, and sees little need for change.
Government: Cultivation has an immense influence over not just the people, but the government as well. The Agrarian party is the most renown political figurehead in Maiz politics, which spearheaded the movement for the advancements in agronomy and limit interventionism, domestically and abroad. Due to a more pacifistic way of life this does mean that corn, bread, and potato's are a staple in restaurants with meat being a commonly unrequested instance, all-though not unheard of as part of a meal. The unparalleled intrigue with farming has to do with the unusually well suited soil that sprawls the entire Republic, as such it was prime agricultural land for a people who were adverse to violence, resulting in the military being a somewhat disrespected profession, and limited industrial capacity preventing hampering attempts to mechanize. Despite this, an adequate self defense force has managed to blossom despite government bureaucracy.
Species: Tellurians have an uncomplicated culture, like most Maizians, they value their prosperity and peace above all else, and submit to order as required. Tellurian communities and families don't necessarily have a strong kinship being moderately solitary and independent of one another, but they do intervene when something they deem invidious is occurring. As per the principles of their Republic, they frequently hold assemblies to discuss what they believe should be acted upon; however being innately very stubborn creatures, and therefore very little is ever agreed upon, if at all. For this reason, they often divert their patience and resolve towards other intensive tasks, holding a considerable majority stake in the total amount of employed (and self employed,) farmers. Due to their solitary nature, Tellurians often prefer occupations which contain the least amount of interaction, or conversing as such are commonly seen as cultivators and military combat roles. Unexpectedly, they prove to be intuitive philosophers and as such are often exploring the actuality of their existence, as well with the cosmos being savvy writer as a result. Before settling down, it isn't uncommon for a Tellurian to spend a portion of their life traveling to different nations to fully survey their continent where the temperature permits. Strangely enough they possess a particular fascination of their neighbors to the North, finding Shazza'k culture deeply fascinating, perhaps due to their physiological or ethnic differences, or maybe simply; they enjoy fish.
Religion: Dated records and tomes speak of a Tellurian belief that one of their ilk with bright red scales and a voice capable of uniting their people; and a will to bring them to greatness! Scarce few accounts of such individuals exist as it's theorized red scales are an extraordinarily rare genome type, but what albeit unreliable retellings of events list these rare Serpents are heroes who accomplished great deeds in their lifetime, before joining the pantheon of their ancestors. though the validity of these claims are shaky at best; a large majority believe that someday, the cycle will continue some day. This ancient faith is referred to as Paragons of the One.
