Grinvelian culture

Historically Grinvel has always been a militarist human dominated culture, spanning centuries from their nomadic tribal origins to the various Grinvel Kingdoms and the formation of the Old Empire all the way to the Reich. Grinvelians have been known to Ouhiri as cold, seldom emotionless and rather bleak people. Despite this they often come across, at least to other humans, as kind and respectful. 


--Religion--

All of Grinvel was converted to Ux Vozhoz over four centuries ago during the Old Empire, most Grinvelians were raised to follow the teachings of the church however modern Grinvel has become more and more Agnostic and apathetic towards the religion. 


--Community--

In Grinvel people are expected to follow laws and customs in a strict and orderly manner. Assisting one another comes without expectation of having anything in return, community service is expected and often more than not children are raised to see one another as kin regardless of blood relation. Grinvelians view themselves as one large family bound by common ancestry and purpose, this makes them exceptional workers, artisans, politicians and soldiers. 

Grinvel households typically hold one family and villages, and smaller towns are expected to have various families connected to one another, in major cities owning a home is a luxury afforded to the upper middle class and upper class placing anyone else in apartments. Grinvel's planned economy has created one of Ouhiri's largest middle class societies generating and spreading sustainable wealth. At the cost of political opinion against the state. In Grinvel speaking against the Reich is considered taboo and utterly foolish as the Reich has provided the vast majority of the citizenry a good opportunity at life. 

--Food--

Grinvel cuisine lays somewhere around Galra and Ulster-Gaelic in terms of quality, as in many believe it to be bland. They are the largest consumers of pork in Ouhiri and Grinvel cultivation of pork leads over any other. Grinvelian pork is considered the best quality of any Ouhiri pork and most Grinvelian meals have some kind of pork product in them. They eat vegetables mainly cabbage that has been fermented called Sauerkraut, to many in Grinvel it is a delicacy and it actually used as a military ration. Other vegetables they consume are potatoes, carrots and soybeans. Grinvel despite having a fishing industry does not generate enough desired product making fish a major import for the country and given their hostility toward Marrlan and Roskana they likely import it elsewhere making the cost rather high. 

Grinvel also consumes gratuitous amounts of beer and whiskey, Grinveilian beer is world renowned and comes in various colors, flavors and tastes. Grinvelian brewers are some of the world's oldest having made kegs of beer for well over three hundred years. They import whiskey from all over Ouhiri as it has begun to take root as a popular drink.

--Language--

Grinvish was developed over thousands of years becoming the predominant and official language of Grinvel. It is considerably harsh sounding compared to other languages but shares some similarities with Galran as Grinvel migrations and invasions Westward influenced the creation of Galran culture. 

--Music--

Grinvel is home to several accomplished musical composers and takes great pride having produced some of Ouhiri's finest composers. 

--Media--

All Grinvel media is controlled and overseen by the Reich government, radio broadcasts are heavily censored, and information is control fed to the general public.
