The Kithium didn't come. When they arrived, they would start to blockade the entry to the valley. They simply began to capture or kill anyone trying to leave. They had no reason to advance on them themselves really. The cold and starvation were all the Kithium really needed. They just had to keep them there.

The insurgents were trapped, they stayed in their dug in positions but food and supplies would run out. They sent some men to risk fishing off the coast but they fell to their deaths from the sharp cliff drop.
They remained for now, rationing what they could.

After a couple more days, the Kithium would send a human man in, riding a horse. He had a letter, and would simply ride slowly to one of the outer fortifications, holding a white flag and no weapon to signal he was a non-combatant.
He simply gave whoever came closer the letter, and said whoever was in charge should read it.

The head commander came unarmed showing signs of severe weight loss and exposure to meet the man. He took the letter to read.

The Letter read as follows:
Lay down your arms and surrender. You will not be harmed if you comply. You will be taken to prison camps in the southern League and returned to the UST at the end of the war. You will be fed and given shelter. If you do not comply within 72 hours we will attack, and the offer will be rescinded.

The commander asked for a moment to relay to his men the message. He told them the offer and a good several hundred stepped up to surrender. At most maybe 204 decided to stay and fight. The starving men filed up with their arms held up to surrender to the kithium while their comrades decided to die for their country.

The Kithium did not slaughter them when they came. Rather then the Kithium had some aid workers, humans, come and guide them to a number of trucks, while along the way they were patted down by soldiers and guards, handcuffed, and then loaded into the trucks. They'd be covered in wagons, and then driven north a few kilometers to a FOB. Here, they'd be taken one truck load at a time to eat, and get water and food, before then one by one, they were sent north to be taken to prison camps.
The rest who decided to stay, would be allowed to stay. The Kithium did not advance on the temple, yet.

204.
That’s all that remained of the UST on Razu. A decade ago they stormed the island with hundreds of thousands of troops. Now I’m the brutal war they found themselves in, it was the hungry few at this old temple left. They were almost out of food, eating a few rats caught and boiling leather to eat on. Still, they chose to die honorably for their nation.
The commander, a man named Samid, had done everything he could to fight back. But against this he was helpless. He never thought the day would come when the Union was so broken and shattered that it would leave him alone to die. The wars he thought were just too much for them to deal with.
He focused back on the rat he roasted on his bayonet and began gingerly eating it, trying to avoid biting down on the small bones.

The Kithium would in the night, bring forth a new unit. One marked with a symbol of a sword, and a eclipsed sun. Sciamachs.
About three hundred of them, overall. They were tasked with a new goal. They had bolt action rifles, kukri knives, and their clothing was tightly fastened to their bodies and bleached white to fit into the snow. They'd be sent in during the cover of darkness, to perform their next task. To kill every UST soldier in the temple with as minimal collateral damage as possible.

Lookouts, gazed into the cool night waiting for kithium soldiers. Many of them had slit open throats before a lone gun shot rang out. Alerting the remaining UST soldiers they came into contact with the kithium and retreated to in and around the temple.
Rifle fire illuminated the darkness as the men filled with adrenaline fought as if it was their last day. They held tightly around the temple using its damaged rubble as cover.

The Kithium didn't make it easy for the UST. They used their numbers to isolate pockets or to focus in on sections of the building itself, using small sticks of dynamite wrapped in wooden planks to act as shrapnel, tossing them through windows and doors to clear the opposition, and eventually gaining a foothold in one of the side passages, beginning to work their way inside and clear the enemy out bit by bit.

The UST fell back to the inner sanctum of the temple. Only a few of them remained, but now the inside of the temple gave them an advantage. Tunneled access into the inner sanctum meant they could lob shots down the entryway.

The Sciamachs would wait for a bit, before they would send a courier back. They blockaded the entry to the inner sanctum, to keep their enemy in there. They needed specialist equipment, and after about six hours they got it. Twenty Festria wielding large shields made out of steel, incredibly expensive but made specifically for this problem, were sent in. They stacked up at the door, and would begin to advance down the hallway, slowly, while Sciamachs used their bolt actions to fire back down at the enemy, before ducking behind the steel plates being held by the specialists.
