Franerre and Mil'Nor had a rather odd relationship, which would be to say nearly none at all. It wasn't for some hostility on either party's end, as far as Franerre was concerned; it was simple geography and economics. Any sea routes would be long, especially if they wanted to avoid passing through Galran, Gaelian, or Kumo waters. An overland route would have to pass through the Union of South Touli and the Kithium League, two states Franerre was on less than positive terms with even before the war. Even if those weren't the case, Franerre and Mil'Nor just did not have much to offer the other economically. Despite all of these facts, relations between the two were cordial, a Franerri embassy proudly standing in New Raltera. A curious thing to come of the relations between Franerre and Mil'Nor was the frequent letters sent between Lehran de Angelis, the Director of the Franerri Foreign Affairs Administration, and High Chief Nils Tolvaj. On the Franerri side, the responsibility of making sure these letters got to the Chief fell to the ambassador, one Gustaw Barbier.

To my good friend, the Esteemed High Chief Nils Tolvaj,
I am sorry for being lax with my writing as of late. The war with the Union of South Touli has taken much of my time, though that is the last I will say of it, for I much prefer to speak of happier topics in these letters. At the very least, I have had one bright spot as of late. That would be the graduation of my nephew, Jerome, from the University of Pareau. He's officially a lawyer, though I have already asked, and he has no interest in joining me in my work here at the Administration. He does still join me for chess on occasion, which I hope he does still continue as he starts his work. Perhaps we could start a play-by-mail game in these letters, if you would be interested. How are things in Mil'Nor? With the time it has been since my last letter, not to mention the travel time from Pareau to New Raltera, much could have changed.
I hope this letter finds you well,
Lehran de Angelis, Director of the Franerri Foreign Affairs Administration.
