Scene: Castle Tolvaj, Capital City of New Raltera. Mil'Nor Joined Clans, Stay 8th, 1932.
The winter snows had come to Mil'Nor, the people of the south having bundled up tight in their homes. The sun had already gone from the lives of many of those living further south, but luckily the capital city was far north enough to maintain the privilege of sunlight. Within Castle Tolvaj, the High Chief sat within his personal quarters, deeper within the hill upon which the Castle stood. The castle had a large underground section built into it, serving as both the inner sanctum of the Chief of Tolvaj, as well as where the old bloodline had ruled from for the past five hundred years. Each room was richly decorated, the adornments speaking of a great collected wealth hoarded by the family over the centuries, with old paintings of family members long past hung around the quarters. The quarters themselves were massive in scale to the needs of a single Mil'Nor, the planned occupancy roughly just below the triple digits.
That thought had twisted itself into the mind of Nils, these past several years. He had grown up here, the place filled with friends, family and the servants. As the years had gone on however their numbers had fallen, be it through time, illness or accidents, leaving only two remaining.
He took sip of his drink, the wine satisfying him for the time being as he gazed around the room. He was in the 'living room' of the quarters, seated next to an old fireplace slowly burning the last of its fuel. His own time was coming, that much he knew. The physician had told him not to go on that trip, and with the cold settling in...he coughed, a bit of red joining his spit as the elder started in another heavy fit. It'd take a few moments, but eventually he'd recover, his vision clearing slightly to a rather ill-wanted sight.
"Father"
"Daughter"
Kathrine knew he'd be down here, the guard had quickly told her after she threatened to break his nose when he initially refused. The man had been knew, not quite in on whose who of the job...She considered going back and breaking his nose anyway, with the sight she'd been given due to his incompetence. Here HE was, once again drowning in booze. The man who'd she had once looked up to so much.
"I trust things went decent at the meeting then?" She said
The elder seemed to consider her a moment longer before responding.
"Well enough that you won't need to consider the Kith on any hostile grounds, girl. You should know that I know what I'm doing out there, I taught you myself"
"And you also taught me not to 'let loose' like this until AFTER my work was done"
Great, Now he was being drunk and fucking a pissant
"I am not unable to do my work, girl. Sit yourself down and have your little debrief, I'll follow"
He raised his glass, taking another sip of the wine before gesturing to the empty seat across from himself. His tone had shifted to that of a tipsy drunk to one of genuine seriousness
"Last I knew, you had things pretty handled around here. Only thing going on was preparations for the Games and the Dar of Rising."
The woman moved as instructed, although she'd shoot her father a glare as she did so. Once seated, she pull a small notebook from her pocket, opening it up as she started listing
"Preparations with the UKUG are already underway for a new railroad, which if things went well with you, we should have them up and running roughly by late spring to late summer. Recruitment has been seeing easy numbers, and our weapons stockpiles have been able to account for some of the production. Final results will be seen once we actually have finished the drive however."
Nils nodded, more so to himself then to her. Things had seemingly gone to plan thus far.
