With the occupation cementing and the overbearing boot of Grinvel pressing on the country sides neck, the people chafed easily under the new shackle as the long memory of the Tsar's boot faded into vision once again. Over 15,000 men and women went to their roots both veterans of previous wars and the children now adults they raised in the republic they bled for. They all shared the same title of Marrish militamen. The militia would be concentrated in the city of Flatrood, reduced to mostly rubble and hosting some of the most discontent people being captured early in the war. Their first actions would be to start sabotaging supply convoy's, ambushing prisoner transports, and freeing POW's to grow their numbers. Marrlan's people would not go quietly

In the rolling hills and plains of Plainery, Marrlans country folk had been waiting. Laying the groundwork for plans that were now ready to commence. A tandem strike on 2 major targets of interest. Grinvelian rail shipments and their motorized supply vehicles. 5,000 Militia men would strike at supply transportation infrastructure and prisoner transports in the open fields. Though not armed with heavy weaponry Marrlan's liberal weapon laws afforded them material other partisans did not have as easily. Grenades.
The partisans tied bundles of 3 grenades together and laid in wait behind low berms, in defilades, or brush, before tossing their plus sized payloads at the lead vehicle in a convoy destroying or disabling it before rushing out to surprise their occupants. Taking what supplies they could and destroying the rest, freeing captives, and taking Grinvel invaders prisoner for questioning if successful. The plains became a open raiding ground for Rel marksmen who, while familiar with firearms but untrained in most cases, made up for their lack of skill with excellent stereoscopic vision affording them greater accuracy over great distance without scopes.
3,000 partistans living within the rubble of Flatrood and Nellrae would strike at supply hubs and hunt down and kill officers where possible. Laying traps with the improvized heavy grenades if they had them, or stalking out a patrol route to ambush them where they were most vulnerable. Supply hubs were attacked at night when the locals knowledge of the terrain and city layout abilities would be most helpful. While Shazzak could not see well without glasses, their electromagnetic senses afforded them much better tracking ability to sniff out guards at all hours was quite useful. They would melt away into the night using the debris to make a quick escape or ducking into the sewers.

Mueller poured himself some scotch into a glass with ice, the reports were escalating. More and more Marrish behind occupied lines were attacking Grinvelians and putting at risk his supply chain to Harbaville and more importantly, Termingrad.
"Terrorist, bandits, traitors to order." Mueller called them, "I want our vanguard to form a unit to hunt these bastards down, and I want a stern warning sent. Anyone who aides and abides these...criminals. Will pay as they committed crimes themselves. And it shall be passed to their families."
Pamphlets and posters began showing all over occupied Marrlan, warning civilians of interacting or aiding the resistance. A new unit called Landfischer 01, made up of 9,000 standard infantryman they would be assigned to hunt down the Marrish underground.
Grinvelian investigators would inspect attack sites and increased patrols were made in Marrlan. Supply convoys now moved slower with armored cars and light tanks escorting them, finally to top off Grinvel's response 20 scout aircraft would begin flying over occupied Marrlan looking for anything to track and report to nearby units. Mueller was shutting down occupied Marrlan, but he didn't want to pass up the chance or risk further losses. He approached Bordhani and offered them positions in the Grinvelian military if they assisted in the hunt.

Some Bordhanians were far too nationalistic, for their land not Marrlan's, to take the offer. More often than not, however, they accepted. Bordhanians in Western Marrlan would pad Grinvish numbers and request to take their own firearms with them to aid in easing logistical strain. They would use their knowledge of the terrain much like the Militia's did leveling the playing field in areas with large Bordhanian populations. (Bordhan and North Western Plainery.)
The Militia reacted as quickly as possible to the change in Grinvelian tactics. Starting to leave tripwires in roads in place of more direct ambushes. They also began tying grenades to mariners' harpoon launchers. While not as powerful or potent as the military versions, it would still prove valuable for at least disabling tracks as the heavier DIY heavy grenades were simply too much weight to be fired.
City Militias would outright slow down and decrease the frequency of their strike to lower the chance of someone sniffing out their tunnel routes and began making auxiliary bases in the countryside or hidden within house cellars. Marksmen in both groups continued to pick off troops who strayed too far and stalk officers until they could be punched out at the right moment.
Neither of the militias groups had noticed the cooperation of the Bordhanians yet, the natural racism was much more moot during this time of conflict and it was assumed they would work together more than anything. As such some Bordhanians had joined the militias number, though it was unclear how many were infiltrators or were actually aligned with the cause.

The Marrish countryside was no longer safe, scattered firefights with the militia and Grinvelian Vanguard had created another warfront behind the main push onto Harbaville.
Bordhanians were pushed to the forefront of the hunt for Marrish underground fighters, using their knowledge of the terrain and use of local language to navigate the occupied Republic in hunting down the rebels. For the moment the supply lines were resuming as planned, large columns of weapons, food, medical supplies and uniforms began funneling south with the roads being closely watched and Grinvelian outposts being erected along it.
The rural countryside was where the Grinvelian vanguard found intense issues in taking. It would be here that the Bordhan were once again leaned into to infiltrate and seek Marrish militia camps, offering to join as volunteers and report back to the Grinvelians as spies.
