Citizen's Service
Political enfranchisement is locked behind a two to four-year term of service. Civilians must sign up for service at an Office of Duty, and from there are given jobs in the armed forces, civil services, public services, or other branches, organizations, and fields of work of that are critical to the well-being of the state, and community. Once this term of service is completed, a person is legally considered a citizen and endowed with political enfranchisement. It is however a responsibility as much as a privilege, as Citizens are also immediately enrolled into Reserve Service, and may be called to serve during wartime or periods of crisis. They are also faced with more significant punishments for violating the law.
The Ultranationalist Party
The politically dominant party of Roskana, the Ultranationalist Party represents a conglomerate of Republic-era Tsardom advocates who collectively opposed the last Tsar, and were opposed to the governance of the Republic. It was formed and led by Apollo Adashenko, the Governor of Auranopolis and Auran, who is now the Tsar. As the Tsar and head of the party, he wields absolute control over the party and its influence in the state. It is comprised now only of Citizens, following the declaration of Citizen Service as a requirement for political enfranchisement.

Roskana
Roskana, located in North Eastern Reseria, is a major regional polity and mutli-ethnic nation-state, founded in the 4th Century PI. It retains a strong connection to an ancient Rombardan Heritage, and a notable harmony among its society despite the many varied ethnic groups the nation hosts, and often competing internal interests. Roskana is known for fostering a spirit of unity through a combination of historical reverence for cooperation, and cultural integration, forming what is a amalgamation of multiple identities that have been collectively brought together into a single over-culture, of which is known as the Rosark Spirit. Mars, the dominant religious figure and center of worship in Roskana, is an embodiment of this, and the nation's martial spirit.
Roskana has a varied climate. In the north, its northern territories are largely Arboreal and Tundra-like, covered in trees or expanses of stony, frozen soil for much of the year, before the seasonal thaw. Once it thaws, this region is green and verdant, though this only lasts for the summer and fall months. Once the cold season arrives, snowstorms and blizzards are common, and the conditions are often described as 'unforgiving and uniquely harsh'. South of the Auran mountain range, the climate is more pleasant and temperate, though it is still frigid and snows heavily during the winter and spring months. Further south, it is warmer, and generally more forgiving. There is less snow, and the growing season is longer.
Further south, there is a band of warmer territory, a hot steppe region which separates the territory of Karshkan from the region of Mars. Past this area, it is more arid, and warm, and generally does not experience as harsh a winter. The nation's Areman holdings are generally temperate and comfortable, while the territory of Eflus, the large Island between the Mainland and Arema, has a similar climate to Northern Roskana.
Roskana is home to a number of different races of 'Anthran', with Humans being the largest group, but only by a relatively small lead. In the North, the Kithium and Cervenians(Cervens) make up the majority of the population, due to their dense fur coats and relatively hardy builds. Kithium are reminiscent of felines, and Cervenians are similar to deer, though both races are bipedal and intelligent, and retain the ability to vocalize in the same range as Humans. At the far northeastern tip of the Auran Fjords, the Karalians inhabit a region called Karalia. Karalians are a race of goat-like people, and similarly to other intelligent bipedal races, speak Common and can vocalize in the same range as humans. In the region around where Auran was founded, south of the mountains and between the territory of Karshkan and Karalia, in the Capitol territory, the Collies lived alongside the Humans and have since continued to inhabit this region. The Collies are a race of canine-like bipeds with thick fur, and generally friendly dispositions, and remarkable aptitudes and intellects, even often outpacing humans. They, like all other races of Roskana, can vocalize in the same range as humans and speak common.
In the north-west, the Festria are the most common, arboreal inhabitants of the heavily forested region of Ald. Festria, more commonly called red pandas. Their coats are typically red or orange and brown, with white muzzles and patches of fur on their bodies, and large, prehensile and strong, furred, ringed tails. They otherwise resemble red pandas found elsewhere in the world, though they are communal and not solitary creatures. In the south/southwest, the Karrashi inhabit the Karshkan region. Karrashi are a race of vulpine bipeds, that stand relatively tall and have dense fur coats, as well as typically red or pink fur colors. This region has a noticeable abundance of pink blossom trees, and Karrashi settlements in the early centuries were typically built in and around them.
In the middle of the nation, sharing the region with a population of Humans and Collies, as well as Kithium, are the Coastal Akulans, or just Akulans. Distinct from Shazzak, Akulans are confined to the shallows and generally are of a larger and more aggressive disposition. Because of their amphibious nature, they are somewhat common across all of Roskana's coasts south of Karalia. They are bipedal and like other races, speak Common, and can vocalize in the same range as humans. They are somewhat more heavily reliant on water struggle to thrive in areas of extreme heat or cold, and prefer to live by the water to stay hydrated.
On the Southern Coast, the population is made up of elements of every race, though Kithium are noticeably prominent in the regional culture. Koians make up a noticeable percentage of the population due to their prominence in railway infrastructure maintenance and the railway industry in Roskana, with Mars being how most trains enter Roskana. They are also prevalent at the northern border, due to the presence of a Koian city-state.
Eflusians, or Gryphonians, are an Avian race located on the Island Eflus, and once ruled their own empire before being integrated into Roskana through a royal marriage and treaty. Gryphonians come in many shapes and sizes, but all have two arms, two legs, a long feathered tail, a beak and avian appearance, and two large wings. The ability to fly is not uncommon among larger Eflusian breeds, but Eflusians generally do not do more than glide. They have typically fragile bodies, but are rather light and athletic in build. They vocalize in the same range as Humans and can speak Common.
History

The first use of the term 'Roskana' was by natives to the Auran region, where Rosk had been previously used to refer to the surrounding territory around Auran, or rather the city of Aura, as it was previously known at the time. The city had been founded on the ruins of a prior empire that'd collapsed, presumably around the time the meteorites made landfall in Koi. The structures, still standing today, are made of a mixture of lime, volcanic ash, water, chunks of rock and other ingredients that can self-repair overtime, as water causes tobermorite crystals to form and allow the concrete to flex, rather than shatter. Many of the oldest structures in Roskana are made of this material, called Rombardan Concrete.
These would serve as the foundation of the first Polis, an early city-state that would then be named Aura in later years. Aura expanded its influence north to the Kithium clans over the mountains through trade and military power and eventually began to encounter other nations, Kirilia and Karrashi being among them. The Auran Empire would be the foundation for the eventual Tsardom. Integrating the Barraban Clans, and then populations of Karrashi, Festria, and Humans in the state of Marrs of which were made up of mostly settler separatists from the Auran Empire and Barraban Clans. Bordering the Marrish, the Auran Empire would act to defend itself against Verak when the region was invaded, and the Marrish fell. The legions of Auran marched through the territory, and in doing so adopted Verak’s iron spears as a symbol of defiance and strength, wielding them as status symbols among the legions that participated in the invasion eventually, this would lead to Veteran soldiers being given spears, while recruits and enlistees were issued short swords. With the Marrish domain reconquered, and Verak pushed back, the Auran warrior spirit would lead to the worship of the deity of Mars being made prominent in the nation’s culture, bringing a belief in Honorable conduct, martial traditions, and discipline to the empire.
The Tsardom would come to be when the first Tsar was crowned in Auranopolis, and the nation expanded further to integrate peacefully the Gryphonian Kingdom of Eflus, and then Arema, as the country would officially adopt the name Roskana. Social engineering and cultural adoption led the constituent regions of the nation then to adopt the name Roskana as well, solidifying it as a unifying identity among the people of the nation. The Roskanan Tsardom would remain a major regional player for several centuries, ultimately even establishing a colony on the continent of Touli, called Caldera. In the modern day, this is the Kithium League. The colony was sponsored by the Cult of Mars, which held considerable sway in the government and a large sum of wealth at the time.
In the 1870s to the late 1890s, Tsar Angus Markson would ultimately institute reforms that curtailed previously well-established civil liberties seized personal fortunes, and removed the political power of several institutions across Roskana. Arrests of prominent nobles and advocates for a return of these liberties ultimately led to the Overthrow, a brief civil war between the Tsardom's forces and the Republican Army, formed and led by Victor Ancival. The resulting conflict was short and low-intensity but saw Auran fall within a few weeks. Most of the Roskanan military either defected, did not participate and remained in their barracks, or retreated with Tsar loyalists. The citizenry tentatively supported the establishment of the Greater Republic, with only about thirty percent of the population voicing support. The rest abstained, or were semi-supportive of the Tsar, as a notable bracket of Roskana's population still benefited from the last three decades of Tsarist rule.
A conflict known as the 'brother wars' would begin in 1903 and end in 1905, when the region of Karalia attempted to secede from Roskana, and was ultimately brought back into the fold through warfare. Early in 1900, a war with Grinvel would erupt, and end in 1905 with a humiliating defeat for Grinvel, and tentative victory for the Republican government, strengthening its position while it continued to slow move towards a solidified position of centralized hegemony in Roskana.
The Greater Republic was founded following the institution of the Provisional Constitution. This document effectively created several guidelines, rules, and regulations, and enshrined into law the legal code of modern Roskana, however, this document did not concretely protect civil liberties as was promised before it was written. The document is still, however, the primary piece of legislation used to govern the nation, allowing for the federal government to supersede all authority in the states if it deems fit, and limiting the authority of states substantially in all areas, including law enforcement of which has been taken over largely by a country-wide federal police force.
Roskana in modernity has not developed massively since. While in the past couple of years, as of 1935, the nation has experienced some industrial growth and efforts to expand infrastructure in Arema have been made, these changes have had a negligible effect on the nation's economy as a whole, as wages are stagnant and median income has not since increased. As well, many areas have fallen into poverty and disrepair due to several factors. In 1935, Roskana was invaded by Grinvel, leading to its participation in the Great War. In late Sablien 1935, the entirety of Roskana's upper-government officials would be killed at sea when a clerical error saw the entirety of upper government, and all the major authority figures of the Republika party put on the same boat, which was torpedoed by a Grinvelian submarine. Vice President Andrew tragically took his own life mere days before this, due to the loss of his only child to an aggressive cancer.
A total and complete collapse of government would occur in short order as party politics gave way to intense political division, and the Governor of Auran would, backed by the military, seize power in a Coup, supported by the army and most state governments, and a substantial portion of the population, though much remained and remains politically apathetic to the government. There has been armed resistance to the establishment of the Dominion.
In early 1936, the Greater Republic of Roskana was abolished, and declared defunct, a provisional government established in its place that would then transition into the Roskanan Dominion, the present governing authority of Roskana. As of the current period, the nation is maintaining a stance of Armed Neutrality, rearming and modernizing its military following lessons learned from the war with Grinvel. It is not part of any major political organizations as of 1936, aside from the ISTT.
