Glascow HeraldWallace Rail unveils new heavy locomotive Onlookers in Northern Edinburgh's rail station managed get to a glimpse of Wallace Railway's newest locomotive, a 4-6-0 heavy hauler that will tow cargo across the islands and the colonies dubbed 'Mule Runner'. The new staol powered steam engine can reach up to speeds of 60 miles per hour easily outperforming the 812 class, the company intends for the Mule Runner to run only large cargo shipments and reduce the use of smaller locomotives in order to cut down rail traffic and staol usage. Production of these locomotives has begun, and the company plans to have them across the UKUG by 1932. Fish and chips businesses propping up
Concerns from the Ministry of Health and Well being posted a report about Gaelians increasingly eating fried foods, the main culprit pointed out in the report being fish and chips. According to the report, since 1920 Gaelians have eaten an increase of 25% more of the fried food and more businesses are appearing to fill in the market demand. "You can't walk down Glascow, Dublin or Edinburgh without seeing or smelling them. Small corner stores rack up huge profits and i'm becoming concerned with how much we're consuming." - Minister Natala Windsor. Despite the report consumption of the fried food doesn't seem to be slowing down and several eateries continue to pop up offering the cheap tasty meal. Minister Windsor has requested a session of Parliament to, at the very least discuss measures to educate on the risks of eating so much fried food. A Brittany man was arrested three days ago in Cricon for of all things, stealing beans. Theodore Simmons has been charged with theft and was sentenced to fifty hours community service and a three hundred pound fine. Simmons entered a local grocery store, filled his pants full of beans, now when we say filled with beans no he did take the can and place in said pants he cut it open and poured them in. Simmons thought if he tied string around the bottom they wouldn't leak out, they did. After attempting to leave the store looking like he had soiled himself he was arrested by local authorities, the store has banned him for opening eight cans of baked beans and not paying for them as well as making a rather large mess as he tried to 'walk' away.

Glascow HeraldDouble decker buses to roll out in major citiesIn his effort to expand public transportation for his subjects, King Rufus McDonald has spent close to 9 million pounds in expanding public transit from his own personal funds. Beginning in the summer citizens can expect to see new double decker buses to be transporting people across the following cities, Edinburgh, Dublin, Glascow, Brittany, Jamestown, Oppidum, York and Wimbledon. The new bus network will take strain off local rail networks and in a odd twist these buses will operate off gasoline combustion engines created specifically for them. They are free to use for registered citizens of the realm, tourists and work visa immigrants will have to pay a small fee of 0.05 to use them.
Opinion piece; The Emerald Empire isn't what it used to be.Many of my fellow Gaelians will likely scoff at this piece I'm writing, but it's important to understand what has happened in the last quarter century. Yes, King McDonald and his reforms have brought increased revenue and trade, yes we are recovering from a low point, yes we are stronger. But, we aren't the dominate force in the West anymore. Our Empire once dominated the open sea, money and gold flowed like a river into the ports of the home islands as our people experienced a golden age of supremacy. Negotiations simply went all in our favor and even the Koi needed the extensive Royal Fleet to escort their precious staol. But alas, our golden era ended when the foolish King James Gordon III took the throne, nothing like his father who ushered in an age of strength and wealth James the third made decisions based on emotion and not thought. He let Xaspeshi leave the empire, to invoke a kindness to the people wanting to leave, it fell into civil war thousands died and to this day its a powder keg of conflict on our colonial borders. Then he lowered taxes on foreign trade which strained the bulking costs of maintaining the trade hegemony we held. And then there's Hawaii. Our golden age lasted over 160 years, James took the side of natives against a rising power we understood little of and expedited the end of Gaelic hegemony. So disastrous was the defeat in the war that he became the first king in over 200 years to be removed by Parliament. There we stood, humiliated and broken. Our hegemony torn apart as competition seized and turned markets we controlled into international open arenas. Rufus was a young King and could have failed easily but managed to correct course and keep the Empire from falling. In some sense, yes, the Emerald Empire stands but its far weaker than it was thirty years ago. I think we're a paper tiger, one hard push and the end comes swiftly for the empire limping on life support. There's no way the military is ready for a war, King Rufus is too soft and kind to foreigners to retake what was ours and seems content to 'adapt' to the new way of internationalism ugh. Whatever we used to be it won't be again, not with leadership refusing to soak the seas in Kumo blood and bring retribution to what was lost, not if we keep letting non Gaelics into our country. Let us correct course before it's too late and purge this silly nonsense of cooperation and internationalism. - Garret Foster, Opinion writer. Member of the Gaelic Fascist party. Environmentalist attempts to save treeMerilyn Thatcher is a known environmentalist and activist in Faroe, she has staged several protests to the industrialization of the Faroe countryside. Her latest protest was to chain herself to a 450 year old tree in Dublin park. The tree needed to be removed as its root system was damaging nearby pipelines feeding water to residents. She promptly chained herself to a tree and stated she would have to be cut down too, unfortunately she chained herself to the wrong tree and utility workers removed the actual tree as she screamed in horror. The old tree was removed and taken to a lumber mill as workers dig to remove roots digging deep into the ground. The crews left Thatcher chained to the tree where some of her supporters were trying to cut her out. The city of Dublin has announced they intend to plant new trees in the central park after receiving several angry letters from citizens.

Glascow Herald Parliament passes Clean Water ActIn a unanimous vote, Parliament has passed the Clean Water Act which will push the Ministry of Health to fund water and wastewater treatment plants throughout the United Kingdom. A large task that will take years to finalize, the first set of clean water plants will be built in Alba and Dublin. Wastewater facilities will replace the sedimentation pond system in use and prevent the hazard of these ponds overflowing into drinking water sources such as rivers and lakes. The act also pushes regulation to industrial complexes that use public water and that they must follow new guidelines to prevent pollution of local waterways. Taoiseach election heating upThis fall will bring a rather heated election between current Taoiseach Richard O'Donnell and challenger Ethan McDougal. O'Donnell has overseen the expansion of the Gaelic military and brought down numerous reforms for working class Gaelics increasing their benefits. McDougal is entering his first run as Taoiseach, the former Parliament representative from Langford challenges the expansion of the military calling it a dangerous game challenging foreign powers and entering the global arms race. McDougal is also an opponent to the increase in spending within the government and wants to strip away government subsidiaries calling them the teat that the people feed on. Rain delays planting seasonFarmers in the UKUG are finally able to begin planting crops after a particularly long stretch of rain prevented them from doing so. The delay has already impacted the islands as produce prices could face a price hike and farmers could see supply not meet domestic demand. The Ministry of Agriculture has addressed concerns and will be working closely with farmers to see that harvests are met on time and to provide what is needed to do so.

Royal Army reveals plans cut armored units downThe Royal Army is planning to downsize the Armored Corps branch of the Royal Armed forces by selling older units of light tanks, tankettes and the entire stock of Vole Mk1 units sighting the Rascal and Badger tank outperforming it substantially and wanting to fill the ranks with those models. There are also plans to use some manufacturing plants in the UKUG to build tanks for other nations within certain trade treaties. The decision came down to the need for additional funding for better technologies and filling in a market need for armored units that could generate income for the Royal Army. The Royal plans to move up its plans to retire the aged Li. Mk3 luch iarainn light tank and sell the 70 units in active duty by 1931. Ministry of Agriculture and Wildlife imposes new hunting restrictionsHunters in Ulster-Gaelia received more restrictions this year for hunting Alban Razorbacks and Gaelic Stags, concerns with low population numbers has brought down a very small number that can legally be hunted this year and likely for the unforeseen future until population numbers rise. Gaelic Stag are a huge part of Gaelic hunting culture and provide meat, pelts and trophies to rural towns and villages, whereas the Razorback has been hunted for meat and their tusks. Razorback hunting restrictions began in 1919 after an alarming population drop and higher than usual number hunted with suspicions that some hunters were not honest with their quota numbers. Despite protest from hunters the restriction passed unanimously in Parliament and was signed by His Majesty King Rufus making it effective immediately. Alban Razorback hog and Gaelic Stags are bordering near endangerment due to generations of unrestricted hunting on the islands. Great Western wins Zedonia expansion bidFollowing months of negotiations, Wallace Rail has been struck a rare defeat in railway expansion to its chief rival Great Western. Great Western which operates on a small scale on the islands has a much larger network and market on the colonies. The multi-billion pound expansion of Zedonian railways stretches new lines throughout Western Zedonia connecting towns and communities that have to be reached by truck or car on poorly maintained roads or flown to a rural airport. The only major rail network extending to Jamestown and certain military bases has hampered infrastructure in Western Zedonia pushing the government for a massive expansion. Great Western will begin work on the new lines this autumn and commission more locomotives to operate it as well as bring hundreds if not thousands of new jobs to the colony, Wallace Rail made no comment on the bid closing and will continue its own billion pound operations on the main islands and what networks they do have in the colonies.

Bean companies enter pricing warBeans play a large role in Gaelic cuisine, they're almost universally on every breakfast plate in the UKUG and are a favorite meal for workers in factories for being cheap and readily easy to heat up. The three bean canning giants however have entered what economist are calling a pricing war for customers, MacDoogle Beanery, Gilbert Beans inc. and Turnigans are slashing prices to outsell each other. Prices are dropping rapidly getting as low as .02 shillings (OOC: .34 cents in today's money) the drops have annoyed groceries and shops across the UKUG but delighted consumers who are buying more beans than ever. "It's bloody fantastic, I hope they keep at it. I've saved so much money buying me beans this month." All three companies refused to comment. 59 year old woman dominates motorcycle industryMaggie Greenway has always been something of a wildcard, a former Royal Army engineer she has enjoyed her short retirement building from scratch motorcycles. After years of building and selling them she started a company in 1927 in Langford island in the small town of Geltinbin, now she leads a fledging industry that was rather niche in the UKUG. Maggie Motorcycle Company is known to sell the absolute best motor bikes in the entire realm and its owner claims they're the best in Ouhiri. "I hand craft every part, I designed it top to bottom, my girls do better than anyone's I don't give a fuck they simply do any talk otherwise is horseshit." MMC is producing record profits for the motorcycle industry in the UKUG and is planning to sell the bikes abroad to foreign nations by winter of 1930.

Lawerance Firearms unveils new sidearm for Royal Army
Legendary gunsmith Johnny Lawerance has unveiled a new semi-automatic handgun to propose to the Royal Army to supplement the UKUG revolver and hopes to replace. The new handgun dubbed cruicéad (cricket) is fed via a magazine charger clip in the upper section of the handgun like a rifle in which it holds 8 9mm rounds. It lacks the firepower of the Gaelic revolver but gives faster fire rate and has been tested extensively in various conditions making it rather reliable. It's main drawback is the price and the awkward reload action some soldiers already find frustrating compared to foreign semi auto handguns.
Cricket 9mm handgun Eddard the Black film breaks recordsGaelic movie theaters have been a rather niche thing in the UKUG, usually just showing cartoons, propaganda or the occasional film that garnered attention. But director George Abernathy's 3 hour epic on the life of the UKUG's first monarch has smashed movie records within the UKUG. The film 'The Black' has sold well over 1 million pounds in tickets within the Spring quarter and has been a huge boon to the domestic film industry, some believe it could spur better quality entertainment in the UKUG film industry but only time will tell.

Ministry of Trade reports 1930 was a huge year for UKUG
Minister of Trade, Tyler McVaugh, stood before the Parliament today with his annual report for 1930. In it he detailed with the work laid out by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the crown UKUG trade expanded exponentially in 1930. New trade routes with Pomazannikki, Ashinara, Frannerre, Mil'Nor, Roskana, and Marrlan have enriched the United Kingdom's economy. Minister McVaugh stated its the largest influx of new trade since the reign of Queen Mary and a proper step in placing the UKUG back into its position as a major power. Silver imports from Touli trade have strengthened the purchasing power of the UKUG significantly and the Minister believes the loan taken from Amali back in 1914 should be paid back very soon erasing the largest deficit in the realm.

Cathair Iarainn HeraldOpinion piece: South Touli Civil war is really a Independent Touli civil warEver since the outbreak of the bloody South Touli war between the UST and a growing coalition of nations supporting the Tafatu rebellion, hundreds to thousands have died in a conflict closing in on a year of fighting. The war and its escalation are a direct failure of independent Touli states being incapable of pursuing diplomatic solutions and indulging in brutal warfare. These savage nations tear each other apart showing that the involvement of colonial powers is paramount to the safety and security of the continent. Prolonged warfare is the doomed nature of 'Free Touli' it is better shackled and controlled by more civilized nations. The war should be viewed as nothing more or less than a civil war among the non-colonial players who could not find unity but rather send their people to die in droves. - Garret Foster, Opinion writer. Member of the Gaelic Fascist party.GWR begins Mil'Nor Railway project
